House of Mice Review

House of Mice Review

Have you ever wondered what M.A.D. Cat from Inspector Gadget does in his spare time? Other than being petted by Dr. Claw that is. It seems he gets up to trouble with the local mice who have come to the conclusion that they can defeat their feline foe by rolling up and exploding like miniature bombs. In House of Mice by Delusion Studio you'll need to direct these furry packages of doom towards the smug cat that taunts them from afar. Ok, so it's not actually M.A.D. Cat, but more of a c…

Stunning Tower Defence Game Sentinel 3: Homeworld Gets Update

Origin8's visually striking tower defence game Sentinel 3: Homeworld has been given new DLC, an update, and a celebratory 80% price slash. Yipppee!! The fresh downloadable content includes 15 new campaign levels across 15 new maps, with the first two of each free for those of us lucky enough to already own this 5-star game. New weapons such as the Vortex and Turret Energizer Sentinel are available after the update, alongside the Energy Syphon, which satisfyingly converts kills into ship energy. Toss in six new challenge modes and that price cut to 99c is starting to look like a real bargain. Don't dally, though: the sale is only on until 30th May, so space cadets should get their boots…

Review TinkerHouse Games By Andrew Nesvadba, 3 years, 6 months ago
Current Review

We've all played one game or another within the 'three-match' genre, be it something as iconic as Bejewelled or a little more abstract like Puzzle Bobble and their popularity resulted in the App Store (over)reacting accordingly. Over time the flood of copy-cats reached an equilibrium, leaving only the giants of the App Store as they stood on the backs of those who perished. The unique way in which these games explored a simple concept helped to contribute to their survival and Current…

Demolition Dash On App Store Now For 99c

Anyone with a interest in destroying everything in sight will be pleased to read that Demolition Dash is now available on iPhone. The anti-hero of Chimera Entertainment's is Zilla, a little tyke who must run, jump, and pummel through eight cities and 24 stages to complete his rampaging mission. Demolition Dash looks like it could be a helluva lot of fun, with Game Center achievements boosting its replayability and additional game modes promised by the developers in future updates. Release some of that pent-up anger and frustration via Demolition Dash at the introductory price of 99c. You'll feel so much better for it!…

Prose With Bros Now With Added Banter

Prose With Bros Now With Added Banter

iOS insult-'em-up Prose with Bros has just received an update including a new word pack, tweaked sentence creation, and some bug fixes. Previously, stringing together random words to make ridiculously convoluted sentences and then having them rated for awesomeness over 24 hours had been a stop / start experience, with bugs rife throughout. No more. The developers Evil Laugh Games have bestowed upon us 300 more words (on top of the 1100 aready available) with which players can banter their way into nonsensical sentence creation infamy. Besides that, the buggy word-dragging feature has been oiled up a bit, preventing words getting stuck on screen. Hopefully, wordsmiths won't find as m…

To-Fu: The Trials of Chi Review

To-Fu: The Trials of Chi Review

Part physics platformer, part puzzle, all tofu - To-Fu: The Trials of Chi by HotGen is only as hard as you want it to be, making this the perfect distraction for almost any gamer. Your basic goal is simple - make your way to the fortune cookie by throwing yourself around the level while sticking, sliding and bouncing off the various surfaces around you. This, however, short-changes you of the challenge of flinging To-Fu around the level, avoiding traps while collecting 'chi' or attemp…

Touchgrind BMX Review

Review Illusion Labs By Andrew Nesvadba, 3 years, 6 months ago
Touchgrind BMX Review

Touchgrind BMX by Illusion Labs is the sort of game that builds fans; not just the regular kind that love the game, but the kind that's willing to give a game a shot because it's made by 'that' company. BMX has come a long way since the 2008 finger-flipping skateboard game from the early days of the App Store and anyone who has spent time enjoying games like Tony Hawk's Pro Skater are likely to lose themselves for days on this high-scoring title. After watching three brief in-game tut…

iOS Slayer Vampire Rush On Sale At 99c

iOS Slayer Vampire Rush On Sale At 99c

The wind whispers his name, villages hum with the trail of his wake, and vampires from American high schools to Transylvania tremble at the very thought of... Greg. Rubbishy - or possibly ironic - name aside, the protagonist of Chillingo's tactical Dracula destroyer Vampire Rush on iOS is back and on sale at 99c for a limited time. In essence, it's a mixture of upgrade-based tactical defence and up-close-and-bloody button-smashing, halting wave after wave of horrific fang barons from escaping into the overworld. If that combination makes you thirsty for blood and downloads, you can quench yourself by purchasing Vampire Rush from the App Store yesterday.…

Evil Dead Shooter Decomposing Its Way Onto iOS

Evil Dead Shooter Decomposing Its Way Onto iOS

Fans of Sam Raimi's Evil Dead movie trilogy can ogle some shiny new images from the soon-to-be-arriving movie spin-off iOS game. Players can take on the role of Ashley J. "Ash" Williams, as he mutilates his way through hordes of Deadites, rescues his friends, and takes down bosses. All this with his trademark boomsticks, axes, and chainsaws in tow. As you can see in the screenshots, the game has a distinctly chibi style with super deformed characters sporting massive cartoon noggins as they dish out mass zomicide. Early reports indicate that while the game follows the same storyline as the movies, there are other plotlines involved to keep things interesting. You'll be able to play throu…

Prince Penny Review

How can a King remain a King if his kingdom is entirely destitute? Easy! Just wait for flying lion-bird's to poop out coins all over your kingdom and collect the gold for insant profit. This does assume you're living in the world of Prince Penny by developer Lionbird, but it scores points for originality if nothing else. One of the upsides of having so many endless titles cluttering up the App Store is the chance for something fun and bizarre to make its way to the top of the pack, gi…

Max Damage Is Jenga With A Gun

Max Damage Is Jenga With A Gun

Sometimes, games don't have to be about saving the world, collecting trophies, or even managing a football team. Sometimes, we all like to settle back with a hand cannon and watch things burn. In Max Damage, Dundee-based developer Digital Goldfish is going to give us another excuse to cause wanton destruction all over our iOS systems. With an array of cannons on offer such as lasers, machine guns and TNT launchers players will have to cause, well, Maximum Damage, through various colourful cartoon block filled stages. Similar to other physics-based puzzlers like Angry Birds and Fragger players can rate themselves via a three star ranking system through 50 levels of playful block genocide.…

Two Extra Levels Bolster Siege Hero's Battlement

Not two weeks after its release, Armor Games's physics-based puzzler Siege Hero has only gone and got itself an update. But what could possibly have been updated so soon? Well, for one thing, the difficulty curve has been smoothened somewhat - good news for noobs. For two things, a couple of extra levels have been included in Treasure Map mode. If you're a bit greedy and that's still not enough for you, then consider this... Scores for the Treasure Map now contribute to the overall Fortress Age tally. A Total Score leaderboard, therefore, has been introduced by Armor Games for you to gauge how much of a destructive menace you truly are. Siego Hero is available at a special introductory…

Storm in a Teacup Review

Storm in a Teacup Review

Although we've seen attempts at it before, Storm in a Teacup by Chillingo and Cobra Mobile is perhaps the first game to truly capture the feel of Little Big Planet on the App Store in a meaningful way. Whether this was the game's intention or not, this little platformer takes you through a variety of worlds while testing your skill at mastering its quirky physics and mini-games you'd not ordinarily expect from this sort of title. At first the game presents itself as a fairly standard…

Bug Chucker Review

While it's no real defense, being original can be difficult, so sometimes it's best to embrace what you are and simply come up with something interesting. Bug Chucker by Cyan Worlds may take its inspirations from App Store classics, but the overall result is something far more intricate and complex, making it a difficult game to compare. Many players will be familiar with the basic setup as you fling objects with a cannon in an attempt to blow up enemies on the screen. Instead of Eart…

First Touch Soccer Updated To Universal Build

First Touch Soccer Updated To Universal Build

While the identity of the Premier League footballer purported to have shared relations with E-lister Imogen Thomas remains a mystery to all*, there's no secret whatsoever to First Touch Soccer's success. Exient's franchise reboot stepped onto the iPhone turf barely a week ago, and impressed Andrew from kick-off to the final whistle, netting a fabulous 5 out of 5 rating. But like any good management team, Exient haven’t rested on their laurels during the post-season, for they've already refreshed their First Touch Soccer squad via an update. The biggest addition to the First Touch Soccer team is unquestionably the universal build feature, meaning that iPad players can enjoy an experi…
