Forma8 - Trailer

About six months ago we posted some screenshots about a new adventure game in development for the ios platform called Forma8. It's been a while, but we now have a trailer to show off, so you can see the game in action.   It looks like a very slow and deliberate paced game with an emphasis on exploring this odd yet enticing world their art department has put together. No release date as of yet, but the developers over at Mixedbag are looking at early 2013.[Forma8 Website]…

Xbox Live Achievements come to iOS with Wordament

If you like word puzzles, leaderboard chasing, scoring Gamerpoints with your Xbox Live Gamertag, and want to do all three on your iPhone, then you're in luck because Microsoft has released Wordament for iOS. Essentially the game is a word search. You're given a grid of letters and need to find as many words within that grab within a strict time limit. Once you're done, your score it totaled up and compared against the rest of the world. Trying to inch your way up the leaderboard makes for a pretty addictive hook. The game connects to the same servers as the Windows version of the game, meaning if you've played on your PC or tablet you can take all of your stats over to the iOS version and…

Sega announces new online RTS Godsrule: War of Mortals

Yesterday, Sega let slip some details about their forthcoming collaboration with Icelandic developer Gogoic, Godsrule: War of Mortals. The game, which has just entered closed beta, looks to be a mix between an MMO, an RTS, and a freemium city builder. There are different factions to choose from in the wartorn world in which the game is set, and once you've picked a side you'll need to craft spells and train your army to ensure that you'll come out victorious if your homestead is ever threatened by another player. The game also offers cross platform play, so you can start a game on your iPad, then pick it up when you get home on your PC. You can link up with other players to form clans and…

Penny Arcade The Game: Gamers vs. Evil Review

When you think 'Penny Arcade', you'll more than likely think about the online comic started by 'Gabe and Tycho'. The brand has almost become an institution that defines gaming for the world - irreverent, opinionated, but always willing to share a fun time with all who seek it. Based on the 2011 deck-building card game of the same name, 'Penny Arcade The Game: Gamers vs. Evil' brings together familiar elements of popular titles like Ascension and Dominion while also adding in a unique…

Anomaly Korea Review

Although it's dubbed as the sequel to last year's smash-hit Anomaly Warzone Earth, 'Korea' is more of an expansion as it tacks on a handful of new features, along with a handful of stages to enjoy them in. Don't let that discourage you though - if anything it refreshes the franchise and pairs well with the detailed visual overhaul also included in this release. The name of the game is 'tower defense', but instead of defending yourself from waves of enemies with towers, you're defendin…

Pudding Monsters Review

After the incredible success of Cut the Rope, developer Zeptolab undoubtedly spent more than a moment wondering just how they'd follow it up. As it turns out, they've branched out in a new direction - albeit one still featuring sugary treats and three-star rated puzzlers - and players will have to flick and stick blobs of pudding together to create the ultimate Pudding Monster. In each stage the player is given a handful of puddings they can flick around the screen. As with similarly…

Ravensword: Shadowlands arrives on the App Store

The follow up to Crescent Moon Games's critically acclaimed action RPG Ravensword: The Fallen King has finally arrived on the App Store, bringing with it a fantasy world of truly epic proportions. Shadowlands takes the template laid down by its predecessor, then pushes everything up a notch. If you're a fan of the Elder Scrolls games, then Ravensword: Shadowlands is going to be right up your fantasy street. There's a massive 3D world for you to explore, which some are saying is the biggest ever realised on an iOS device. Throw in first to third person perspective switching on the fly, a huge quest to try and complete, hundreds of objects to collect, and a deep character advancement system…

App Wrap Up (Midweek Edition, 19th December 2012)

Hey Hey dear readers! Well it's a Wednesday and most of you have probably noticed, we have a new site here at Appspy! It should make it a lot easier to comment, track apps, and most importantly, just look around the site. But we're not here to extoll the virtues of the new site, we're here to have a look at some app trailers, and maybe show you something interesting that you haven't seen before, or something that just might entertain you. Let's start things off!   Asva the Monkey (Osja Studio) While this trailer is annoying for not actually showing off how the game works (due to its love of quick edits), you can kind of see what's going on here. Looks like a puzzle tile game, where…

Monsters, Inc. Run Review

It was bound to happen - the freight train of Disney Interactive's mash-up of successful iOS franchises with their own properties has run in to a bit of a snag. Where previous titles managed to blend its inspirations up and come out with something new, 'Monsters, Inc. Run' opts to simply balance the freemium auto-runner to create something more akin to what the first title should have been. As such the best moments of this title match those of Mega Run by Get Set Games without much in…

METAL SLUG 1 Review

METAL SLUG 1 Review

There's one thing that has held back previous releases of the METAL SLUG franchise on the iOS platform, and that one thing is simply its 'controls'. The games are, without question, just as amazing as they were in the arcades and the perfect fodder for gamers after a hardcore side-scrolling shooter, but games like this live and die by their controls and sadly SNK PLAYMORE has missed an opportunity to come up with a novel solution. If you've never played METAL SLUG, I thoroughly recomm…

In a statement to PG, an EA spokesperson said "our goal for Real Racing 3 is to create an experience that resets the bar for racing games on mobile, and we wanted to take some extra…

Dead Trigger gets violently festive update

What better way to fill your life with Christmas cheer than slaughtering hundreds of highly detailed zombies on your mobile device of choice? Well, that's exactly what Madfinger are offering in the latest free update to Dead Trigger. The new update, which pushes the game to version 1.70, features the obligatory North Pole level, where you take on hordes of the undead, most of whom are wearing Santa hats or reindeer helmets. 'Tis the season, after all. You'll also get to face off against Zanta, a new boss character who, if our word skills are up to scratch, is a big fat zombie version of Father Christmas. Looks like we're all going to end up on the naughty list this year. The update is ava…
