Honor of Kings puts up $3,000,000 in prize money for this year's Riyadh World Cup
We have all longed to make money from gaming at one point or another, and soon, Honor of Kings will be giving some of its players this opportunity. The Honor of Kings World Cup is gearing up to kick off on July 15th, taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Because the rest of the world just currently isn’t hot enough somehow.
One of the biggest changes to this year's tournament is the introduction of the Global Ban&Pick. This means that a team can only use a hero once in each match of a series, preventing the same old tactics each game. It is a great way to showcase everyone's talents across multiple heroes.
It also means everyone is going to need to work that much harder to earn a piece of the staggering $3,000,000.00 prize pool on offer. Another first for this year is that two KPL teams have been invited to the Playoffs: AG.AL and TT Global. Everyone else will have to fight through a few stages to earn the right.

It starts with the Group Stage, from July 15th to 19th. 16 teams have been divided into four groups to duke it out in a double-elimination with a best-of-three format. This includes the likes of Alpha7 Esports, Twisted Minds, and OG Esports. The group winners then advance to the Group Kings, with the runners-up heading to the Last Chance.
The Group Kings will see the group winners go head-to-head, with A1 vs. B1 and C1 vs. D1. Those who win go to playoff pool 1, and the losers playoff pool 2. The most interesting battles will happen in The Last Chance. A2 will face B2, and C2 will face D2. The winner advances to the playoff pool 2, and the losers are out, making for real high-stakes games.
Those six who qualify will join the two invitees for the Playoffs between July 23rd and July 26th. This will be a single-elimination bracket, with the victors heading to the Grand Finals on July 26th, for a best-of-7 series with the Ultimate Battle draft mode.
Luckily, it isn’t just the professionals who get to have all the fun. Until August 28th, everyone can claim an Elite Pass for the first esports tournament-themed Honor Pass. You can unlock rewards, including the Nuwa–Syzygy Moonlight skin and the Alessio KWC skin. Download Honor of Kings from the App Store and Google Play before you miss out.
