Pokémon Go kicks May off with a bang with back-to-back events
May is looking to be a pretty busy month for Pokémon trainers worldwide, as Pokémon Go announces two back-to-back events. Power up your squad using the Growing Up bonuses, and then claim royalty as Kingambit makes their Go debut.
From May 2nd to May 7th, the Growing Up event will offer two times XP for evolving Pokémon, and two times Candy from hatching Eggs to make sure you can evolve. A perfect double whammy for toughening up your team. You can also expand your shiny collection with a higher rate to hatch a Shiny Wimpod, and more chances to encounter a Shiny Magikarp, Swablu, or Wimpod. It's a Wimpod-heavy week.
You will also find the likes of Cutiefly, Rookidee, and Wailmer popping up in the wild more often. If you stock up on eggs, you might see your 5 km’s yield a Mime Jr, or if you are really lucky, your 10 km’s will reveal a Toxel. There will also be Field Research Tasks to complete, and a Collection Challenge that will lead to an encounter with Tandemaus.

Hop forward a week, and the Crown Clash will kick off from May 10th to May 18th. The two times XP for evolving lingers, and you might also come up against a Shiny Nidoking and Shiny Nidoqueen wearing a regal crown. You can round off your royal court with the debut of Kingambit.
Hitting the wilds with the peasants, you will find the likes of Slakoth, Piplup, and Litleo showing up more often. These can be shiny, and finding a shiny Slowpoke in particular can also nab you a King’s Rock. Crossing your fingers really hard could even bring you into the path of a Pawniard.
Raiders will come up against Sneasel, Klink, and Pawniard in the one-star encounters, with the aforementioned crowned Nidoqueen and Nidoking in the three-star. Crown Clash will also sport Field Research Tasks and a Collection Challenge, with Trainers over Level 31 guaranteed to get a Candy XL from evolving a Pokémon after completing this. Finally, there will be Pokestop Showcases where you can enter event-themed Pokémon.
Pokémon Go is available to download from the App Store and Google Play.
