Monster Hunter Outlanders is out now and brings a full hunting experience to mobile

When I heard that Monster Hunter Outlanders was being made, I was pretty sceptical. Monster Hunter Now didn’t really give us the proper experience, and frankly, I didn’t think that was possible. And yet, TiMi Studios made me eat my words cause Outlanders is excellent, and it is available to download now.

You will find yourself in Aesoland, exploring a huge world with a series of Gacha characters. A bit of a shame, but at least you have your original character who can wield any weapon you like. Outlanders is packing Great Swords, Long Swords, Hammers, Lances, Charge Blades, Heavy Bowguns, Bows, and the best there is: Dual Blades.

Each character can also be accompanied by one of three types of buddies: Palicos, Rutacos, and Trillan. They each have their own skills to support you on your adventures, which can also be undertaken with up to three friends. But who needs friends when you have a Palico? Or maybe a Palamute one day? Hint, hint, TiMi. 

However you arm yourself, and whomever you bring, you will no doubt be eaten whole by one of the new Radiant Monsters. These beefed-up baddies hit like a truck, and it doesn’t get any better when the Elder Dragon Ruger Aidal rocks up. It is a good thing that Outlanders has been beautifully set up for mobile.

You can take on the game with a controller in some of the modes: hunts, quests, and world exploration. More will be added; however, the touchscreen is excellent. Combat is pretty smooth and a proper Monster Hunter experience. Enemies just seem to have less health for the pick-up-and-play aspect of mobiles, which some people will say is a good thing. Hunts last years on consoles. 

To help kickstart your adventure, A Melody Echoing Through the Maples will let players try out the Long Sword Adventurer Midori, and the Flowing Maple Melody hunting challenge that features the same. You will be able to rack up enough vouchers to try over 400 recruitment attempts if you find her to your liking, too. She is no Dual Blade Wielder, though.
