You would be forgiven for forgetting that PUBG was the first game to really explode within the battle royale scene. Before that colourful copycat came along and shoved stupid dances down all our throats. Anyway, in a hilarious turn of events, it is now PUBG Mobile’s turn to rip off a popular genre with an Asymmetrical PvP mode.

Unfail, a mode name that will never not annoy me, will pit four Survivors against one super-powered Predator. This beast has formidable abilities that it uses to hunt down the Survivors. These four, on the other hand, have to work together to beat back their hunter and activate terminals to unlock exits.

In other words, PUBG saw Dead by Daylight and went yes, I would like a piece of that. I feel this is incredibly fair given that countless battle royales have taken PUBG's whole angle. Who knows, it might end up being its whole deal, like what happened with Fortnite. I hope that doesn’t mean we are going to be hunted down by Sabrina Carpenter.

I am looking forward to seeing how this mode works on release. Presumably, the Predator won’t have access to guns because that would just be a bit too unfair. The wording of the announcement, though, interests me. The survivors can work together to “hold off the Predator”. Perhaps PUBG's Survivors will have a little fight to them, like Friday the 13th.

For those lucky enough to be at Gamescom, the answers to this hypothetical can be found in Hall 6.1. Here, Krafton is offering a preview build of Unfail ahead of its release as part of Update 4.0 later this year. This means it is not too late to change that god awful naming. It is a grammatical nightmare which will be scarier than any Predator.

PUBG Mobile is available from the App Store and Google Play
