Blue Toad Murder Files coming to iOS

Blue Toad Murder Files coming to iOS

It's hard to pin point exactly where the point and click revival happened, but some might suggest that Blue Toad Murder Files had a lot to do with it. Originally a PSN exclusive, the murder mystery game is now heading to iOS. Slated for release on April 11th, the game is an episodic adventure that sees you and up to three friends trying to solve a murder mystery in the sleepy village of Little Riddle. This new version has been, according to Relentless Software, built from scratch for mobile devices. There'll be four mysteries for you to unravel, all presented in a charming cartoon way. Expect a mixture of Miss Marple style sleuthing and a lot of jokes too. We've no word yet on price, but…

Dream Tim Review

Dream Tim Review

Not to be overly judgmental of the protagonist of Dream Tim, but if you're dreaming of putting yourself in an endless runner, regardless of the reasons or the reward at the end of the unlockable chapters, you might need to get yourself some professional help. Yes, Dream Tim is the latest in the endless runner genre, but it decides to take a bold stance, and do away with the normal run and jump gameplay, replacing it with a swiping mechanic to destroy monsters and grab coins. If it actu…

Review Mighty Kingdom By Andrew Nesvadba, 11 years, 1 month ago
Sorted! Review

Sorted! by Mighty Kingdom finds itself falling in to that niche category of time-wasters that can best be described as 'micro games'. If you've ever played a WarioWare game you'll know what I'm talking about - you're presented with a rapid-fire series of screens where you have to figure out and succeed at the 'game' placed before you in a matter of seconds. However, unlike WarioWare, Sorted! sticks to one game, and while it does vary things up, the game feels limited and lacks a hook t…

[UPDATE] Order & Chaos Duels - Trading Card Game Review

[Editor's Note: After further gameplay testing we've noted several points in the campaign where the AI is provided with what can only be described as severly imbalanced abilities and decks. These will act as roadblocks preventing progression, though the exact placing of said roadblocks will depend on your character and their deck/abilities. Sadly it comes down to luck as to whether you'll draw better than your opponent in these cases and it would be good to see the pogression evened ou…

Ms. Splosion Man Review

More and more these days we're seeing console and PC titles making their way to the App Store. However the most successful of these shape their title to fit the mold of the iOS platform, be it through unique controls to suit the touch-screen or a complete rework of its gameplay. Ms. Splosion Man takes the easier route of keeping things mostly unchanged, and while it does hurt the game in some ways, the manic platformer from Twisted Pixel Games remains a treat to play. If you took a bu…

Battle Dungeon returns as Battle Dungeon: Risen

Battle Dungeon returns as Battle Dungeon: Risen

If you've any interest in the fantasy role playing genre you might remember a game by the name of Battle Dungeon that released at the end of last year. It was a turn based adventure that let you test your strategy and cunning against AI foes or online friends. Unfortunately so many people pirated the game that the developer, Hunted Cow Studios, couldn't keep up the servers for people who'd legitimately bought the game and it had to be pulled from the App Store. Well, now it's back with a new name, Battle Dungeon: Risen, and a focus on single player gaming rather than the asynchronous online battling that the original game offered. So you're still getting a turn-based, strategy RPG, you jus…

Runaway: A Twist of Fate - Part 1 Review

Despite the Adventure genre going through a hay-day of sorts, there were many problems with the basic gameplay - notably, it was almost assumed that players understood the genre's many tropes. Supposedly, after what was called the 'Grandma Test', Telltale games revised how they approached teaching the player how to play their games and this has flowed through to each of their titles since then. Runaway: A Twist of Fate is the third in a series from Pendulo Studios, and unfortunately it…

First look at Moebius

First look at Moebius

Moebius is the latest game by adventure game luminary Jane Jensen. For those of you unfamiliar with her work, she is most famous for the Gabriel Knight series. Last year her kickstarter campaign for a new game was funded, and this trailer based on an alpha build of the game was released to her kickstarter backers, who will be providing feedback. Already it looks quite intriguing as a story, if not a little flat and sparse in the animation department. The backgrounds are very eye catching however. Plans are to show the game off at this year's E3. No word on when they're looking to release but I would imagine sometime this year, perhaps in quarter four. As this is being released on iPad alo…

Have a Blast... with Dragons!

Have a Blast... with Dragons!

Coming out this Thursday in the App Store in Dragon Blast. A pretty simple physics puzzler in the vein of games like Angry Birds. While it does look rather derivitive, the longer I watched the trailer, the more I found a certain charm in the level design that I think could be enjoyable. Have a look at the trailer for yourselves and see what I mean.…

EAster Sales and More Great Deals!

Holidays often means sales, and Easter is no exception as Electronic Arts has gone completely bonkers and dropped the price on almost everything in their range - most to as little as $0.99 a pop. So yes, that means you can pick up Dead Space (5/5) for $0.99; you can also pick up Madden NFL 12 (5/5) for $0.99; Heck! You can grab a real high watermark racer like Real Racing 2 (5/5) for $0.99. In fact we have EA's entire catalogue listed so you can find something you want at the price you're after. And if you want even more great deals, check out our list of titles we've reviewed that have just gone on sale. You can pick up excellent deals like a copy of the intriguing Melodive (4/5) or the…

Gameloft's Iron Man 3 - Releasing April 25th

It's easy to say we're liking the look of Gameloft's current titles. Old habits may die hard for a company like this, but we're willing to give praise where due - most recently with their release of Order & Chaos: Duels. Now we find ourselves in a similar situation with their upcoming movie tie-in for Iron Man 3; it's looking gorgeous and could potentially be very addictive if the combat is anything to go by. Instead of a rough-shod 3D brawler, players take the role of Tony Stark as he speeds along, shooting down enemies in his path in an After Burner-like target and fire system. Obviously we won't know more until closer to the release date of April 25th, but for now you can check out…

App Wrap Up (Week ending 29th March, 2013)

Hey Hey Appspy readers, and welcome to another installment of the App Wrap Up, your favourite regular feature on our site! Last week's picking were sparse indeed but don't fret, this week I have a bunch of trailers to more than make up for it! As always, these games are based solely on their trailers, and if you like what you see, well that's why we add the link to the App Store. Let's get started!   AHOGE CHANBARA (MMXIII M2 Co., Ltd.) This is one of the more interesting takes on an Infinity Blade-esque dodge and attack game i've seen. The anime characters attacking with their hair have a certain charm to them that lends some possible enjoyment to this title.[App Store Link]…
