Plants vs Zombies Sprouts New Updates In iPhone Garden

PopCap have updated their 5-star strategy game Plants vs Zombies with a whole host of new features that will quite literally have you soiling your plants. For starters, a new Zen Garden has you collecting, watering, and fertilising the fruits of your labour, with coinage rewarded should you prink and preen to a satisfactory level. You can then spend that money on some lovely plants and traps, or even new mini-games such as the considerately named Zombiquarium and Zombotany. Beyond this update, Game Center integration is soon to be upgraded and will throw in with some extra unlockable achievements. More news on those refreshes when we get it - until then, you can pick up Plants vs Zombies…

1000 Heroz Review

RedLynx likes a good racer, though it seems they have an allergic reaction to vanilla racers, preventing them from making a bland title that most people would recognize. Some would consider it risky to flirt with these sorts unique ideas, but they're not slowing down and their current front-runner is 1000 Heroz. Every day you'll get to compete with people around the world with a new 'hero' and a new level, but you only get 24 hours to make your mark before starting anew. The game itse…

EA Release Golden Oldie Dragon's Lair 2 On iPhone

EA's Dragon's Lair 2: Time Warp, the 1991 laser disc do-or-almost-certainly-die game, is out now on App Stores worldwide. Unchanged from the original, this epic adventure charges you with directing the protagonist Dirk the Daring all the way through time and space to reach and rescue Princess Daphne. EA has retained the 3, 5, and infinite lives options, for you will (undoubtedly) perish over and over and over again (repeat to fade). Dragon's Lair 2 is available to download right this second for $2.99. Let's hope it fares better than its 3* iPhone predecessor. In celebration, leeeeet's...dooooo...the...Tiiiiime...Warrrrrp...agaaaaain. Ahem.…

James Pond Is Back and On iOS From 30th June

James Pond, the smooth and so-fish-ticated (sigh) super agent, will be swimming onto iPad and iPhone from 30th June. James Pond in the Deathly Shallows - a pun-tastic nod to Harry Potter's latest escapade - will invite you to rid the sea of pollution by navigating around a series of deadly underwater mazes. En route there will be a barrage of nasty starfish, barracuda, and jellyfish, but gladly you'll be armed to the tiny teeth with your trusty bubble gun. James Pond in the Deathly Shallows will mark the first outing in a brand new series of James Pond titles, which will hopefully contain the same gameplay and infectious soundtrack that has helped earn it over two million sales since 1990…

Max Damage Review

Max Damage Review

Max likes to blow things up. Some would say this makes him a social time-bomb, but then again others would gladly place a cannon in his hands to see what happens. Max Damage by Digital Goldfish sets aside the worrying idea that people have left a weapon along with their expensive goods in the vicinity of such a disturbed child and goes with the flow. Instead of having specific objects that need to be destroyed (say like pigs), you need to aim for the most amount of destruction, target…

10tons Of Peabrained Puzzling On iOS Now

10tons Of Peabrained Puzzling On iOS Now

Prepare for sickly-sweet cuteness on a scale only witnessed by those who played Yoshi's Story on the N64. Joining Hands, out today on iOS, is Finnish developer 10tons's first game since their rather less cutesy but still rather good Grim Joggers. In this canny puzzler, however, you're asked to rearrange pea-like creatures so that they're all holding hands. "Why?", I hear you ask. Well, the Peablins believe that by joining forces in this way, they will be protected from the bogeymen. There are roughly 90 levels to get on with, and more coming soon across all iOS platforms. Joining Hands is available to buy now for $2.99 on the App Store.…

Evil Dead Review

I, for one, have nothing to complain about when it comes to the Bruce Campbell love of late. Clearly I'm not the only one craving more one-liners and Trigger Apps have released their twin-stick shooter re-telling of the Evil Dead movies (with a bit of artistic license thrown in). As Ash you'll need to beat back Deadites and possessed flora and fauna while trying to protect your friends from the evil slowly overtaking them. For much of the game you'll be limited in your available resou…

Feed Me Oil Review

There's something distinctly disturbing about Feed Me Oil by Chillingo and HolyWaterGames - while the amazing fluid mechanics could be considered uncanny, the unnerving variety of creatures you end up 'feeding' are almost the stuff of nightmares. Though feed them you will as you obsess over engineering the perfect machines for transporting oil from the pipe and in to the monster's mouth(s). The immediate impression you get on loading up the game is one of a re-imagined World of Goo, b…

Zenga Release Social Hangman Game Hanging With Friends

Breaking Noose! Social gaming behemoths Zynga have released Hanging With Friends onto the Canadian App Store. Based on the classic children's game Hangman, you have to correctly guess words one letter at a time in order to save a man from being hanged. And they said Mortal Kombat was a bad influence? In this modern rendition, there is a hefty portion of social features to make things more chortlesome, including the ability to play up to 20 concurrent games against your existing contacts. Instant replays also mean that you can have a good old laugh as you watch your opponents struggle and squirm to work out the partially revealed phrases. Hanging With Friends is out now in Canada for 99c…

Mighty Fin Review

Cute main character? Check. Single-touch gameplay? Check. High-score focus with collectable items? Check. Gorgeous visuals and catchy tunes? Check. Mighty Fin by Launching Pad Games may tick all the boxes when it comes to feeling like Tiny Wings, but to discount it on this basis would be a crime - Mighty Fin sinks its teeth in early and helping the cute little fish on his world-wide holiday is sure to give you a smile. Instead of riding hills and flinging yourself upwards with the mom…

Review EA Chillingo By Andrew Nesvadba, 12 years, 11 months ago
Red Ball 3 Review

It's hard to accuse Red Ball 3 by Chillingo and RedBallStudio of following the pack when it comes to its physics-puzzle platforming gameplay. The way it feels to control your ball and even the variety of the levels themselves is almost entirely unique, which is a rare treat when you consider how many competitors are out there already. Your first major hurdle to overcome (and one that will probably take the longest to deal with) is coming to terms with the way in which your Red Ball fe…

Snake Updated For 21st Century In Hard Lines

Snake Updated For 21st Century In Hard Lines

On the universally accepted scale of annoyance, ‘hard lines’ is sandwiched somewhere between ‘hard times’ and ‘hard cheese’. One game that we feel certain would have elicited shrieks of ‘hard lines’ from concerned high score owners looking over your shoulder is Snake, that frightfully addictive Nokia gem from yesteryear. Well, get ready for some similar self-loathing, knuckle-biting experiences in Spilt Milk Studios’s Snake reimagining on iPhone...unsurprisingly called Hard Lines. Due out on Thursday (9th June), Hard Lines features six different modes, ranging from Gauntlet to Time Attack, and Survival to Piñata. And as in its…
