Sub Drop is a fast, challenging puzzler from the developer of Node Along

Sub Drop is a fast, challenging puzzler set to launch on the App Store tomorrow, September 17th. The free-to-play title comes to us from Turkish indie developer ScrollView Games. This is now the team’s fourth game following puzzlers Node Along and Incidence and vertical-scrolling platformer Toxic Hunters. It looks to be another fairly fast-paced puzzler, mixing reaction-based bouncing with rapid-fire subtraction. The basic idea is that you need to keep a small, bouncy ball inside a spinning square which you have full control over. You’ll fight to keep the ball safe while searching for special numbered blocks. Up Left Out is a minimalist new take on the block-sliding from the creator of Klocki and HOOK

Klocki, HOOK, and Push all played with their familiar genre elements to deliver uniquely minimalist puzzlers with clever mechanics and the new Up Left Out does the same for block sliding puzzle games. Each of Up Left Out’s 50 stages is a collection of blocks, most marked with lines to connect like circuits rather than matching colors or more traditional objectives. Those blocks are often linked to pegs, forcing you to not just slide blocks around the stage but first figure out to how to free blocks from their pegs. This additional challenge introducing a challenging extra step to Up Left Out’s colorful puzzles. Soon, you’re also dealing with buttons that activate barrie…

It's a narrative about a fading memory, about remembering and consciousness, and your puzzle solving brings new context to the text. Its minimalst art style and piecemeal story structure is designed with intent, attempting to represent the nature of remembering fragments of memories, snapping into place and revealing th…

Puzzle game Shadowmatic is receiving an eons-spanning expansion this Thursday

Three years later, the game is getting a hefty update with the new Other Worlds chapter, adding new levels later this week.  Every stage in Shadowmatic follows the same premise: a collection of oddly shaped figures and structures, constructed from various materials, hang in the air, their shadows projected onto the wall of the room where the puzze is situated. Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle releases on Android this Friday

Slayaway Camp was a sliding block puzzler themed after the tropes of the slasher horror genre, featuring a masked killer and stylized gore as you figured how out to navigate tight maps. Now the developers are bringing a new horror movie-themed puzzle game to Android (and iOS worldwide, following an US release earlier this year) with Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle.  As you might guess by the title, Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle is inspired by the classic movie series, featuring over a hundred puzzles with you in control of the hockey-masked Jason and hunting victims in locations around Camp Crystal Lake and beyond. Mechanically, you move Jason with swipes that slide his hul…

Each of the game's fifty-plus stage is a gauntlet of enemies, hazards, and puzzle elements navigated by dragging nodes to alter your path, as your titular hero swings along the pipes; timing your movement between nodes with the arc of her swing is as important as where you place nodes, letting you collect coins or dodge projectiles with your back-and-forth motions. As the narrative moves from the sunny exteriors to the deadly caverns and alien ruins within, Sling Ming in…

Guide a flame through darkness and puzzles in Candleman, now available on iOS and Android

Candleman is one of those games with a very apt title: it's a new puzzler about guiding a sentient candlestick, with legs and all, through a dangerous world. Recently released on iOS and Android, this puzzle game promises both a compelling atmosphere and a unique mechanic of being a fluttering flame in the dark. At its core, Candleman revolves around a simple mechanic, where your light only lasts ten seconds at a time. Any longer and your wax body melts, and you lose a life. With that ability, you can traverse the shadowed halls of a fairy tale world, where books and pages form paths and platforms and colorful lillies provide ambient illumination. But Candleman quickly introduces addition…

Homo Machina is an artful industrial puzzler in development for iOS and Android

Inspired by the art of Fritz Kahn, Homo Machina is an upcoming puzzle game that takes players on a journey through the body; not an organic Fantasy Voyage vision of the body but an mechanical automata, where mouth, nose, ears, heart, and other senses and parts of the anatomy are represented as industrial machinery. In the recently released trailer (Vimeo), Homo Machina presents its version of the body as a factory, where workers control machines that act as the pumping heart, as nasal ducts, as incisor blades and molar grinders. Each chapter revolves a different section and function of the body, with simple mechanics bringing each bodily function to life along with charming animations.…

Frantic twitch puzzler Hyper Square is on the App Store now

Hyper Square, a frantic twitch based puzzle game from Team Signal, is out now on the App Store. The gameplay revolves around swiping squares into portals to make them disappear. While the basics may seem easy, however, Team Signal adds increasingly more complex layers of mechanics, requiring you to resize and rotate tiles against the clock before flinging them into the requisite portal. Hyper Square’s vibrant aesthetic keeps the gameplay visually interesting and exciting, while also managing to increase its sense of urgency with its pulsing lines and colours. Despite this it remains quite minimal, ensuring that even at its most fraught you are able to follow what is going on.…
