Supercell might finally be on the right track (finally) with Clash Royale Season 81 releasing on March 2nd. The update will celebrate the game’s 10th anniversary with the addition of new Heroes, the Album event, and more.

Apart from this, Global Tournaments are making a return to Clash Royale, along with major changes to Pass Royale. While most of the new features and updates look intriguing, the February 23rd patch had already drawn massive criticism from players.

But for now, let’s focus on the positives and take a look at what the March update has in store.

Hero Barbarian Barrel

Hero Barbarian Barrel will introduce an ability called Rowdy Reroll, which will enable him to barrel down the lane a second time upon activation. The Hero will be available to unlock through the premium Pass Royale.

However, the good news is that Supercell has removed the 5,000 trophy requirement for purchasing the pass.

Hero Magic Archer

Hero Magic Archer’s ability, Triple Threats, will make him dash backward upon activation. In addition to this, a decoy will spawn in the Hero’s place, which will unleash a triple-arrow attack on its next strike.

Hero Magic Archer will be available for free through the Album seasonal event.

Album Event

The event is designed to celebrate Clash Royale’s 10th anniversary during which players will collect Snippets to complete iconic scenes from the game’s history. These Snippets can be earned through Daily Battle Rewards, Events, Clan Voyage, the Shop, and Special offers.

There will be a total of nine scenes, each consisting of nine snippets and players will earn rewards for completing each scene. Upon completing the entire album, users will be awarded with Hero Magic Archer, Hero Magic Archer Emote, and Anniversary Tower Skin.

Anniversary Party

From March 2nd to the 11th, players can vote daily for items that will be unlocked during the event. The top 20 troops voted by the community will offer an exclusive reward each day.

However, these can only be claimed by users who participated in the voting.

Global tournaments return

Global Tournaments were quietly removed by Supercell in 2023; however, they will make a return in March 2026 with multiple structural updates.

Going forward, these events will unlock at Arena 3 instead of King Level, allowing more players to participate. In addition to this, competitors will have to build decks using cards they own, and the leaderboard ranking system has been improved.

The top 1,000 participants will have their names featured in the Hall of Fame and will also receive a special Champion Badge. Moreover, the badge will level up for players winning multiple events.

The first Global Event will begin on March 27th to celebrate Clash Royale’s anniversary.

Pass Royale and the introduction of Hero Coins

Starting March 2nd, the game’s Pass Royale will offer 75 Hero Fragments each season as opposed to a random amount as before. Moreover, all of them will be available through the Free Pass.

Apart from this, the upgraded pass will no longer be divided into separate versions. The first tier of the pass will have four reward options, while the remaining tiers will offer two choices each.

With the release of mid-March update, Hero Fragments will be renamed Hero Coins and players will be able to use them to unlock Heroes of their choice. Unfortunately, a maximum of 200 Hero Coins can be accumulated at a time, and any excess coins will be converted into Gems.

Deck slot reduction

With the mid-March update, Deck Slots in Trophy Road, Ranked, and Challenges will be reduced from four to three based on player feedback.

These three slots will comprise one Evo slot, one Hero slot, and one Wild slot, which can activate an Evolution, Hero, or Champion.
