LDPlayer 14 Android Emulator upgrades to Android 14 with improved Hyper-V support
Running Android games on a PC has become increasingly popular, whether it's for the larger display, more precise controls, or simply the convenience of playing mobile titles from the desktop. But as Android continues to evolve, staying compatible with the latest games has become one of the biggest challenges for emulator software.
LDPlayer's latest release is designed to address exactly that.
The Windows Android emulator was recently updated from an Android 9 foundation to Android 14, bringing it closer in line with the requirements of many recently released mobile games. As more developers target newer Android versions, older emulators can begin to struggle, with some titles refusing to install, missing newer features, or failing to launch altogether.
By moving to Android 14, LDPlayer aims to reduce those compatibility issues and better support the latest wave of Android games without requiring players to switch devices.
The update also focuses on improving compatibility with Microsoft's Hyper-V virtualisation technology. Hyper-V powers a number of Windows security and development features, but it has also been known to conflict with Android emulators, often forcing users to disable system settings before games will run correctly.
According to LDPlayer, version 14 has been designed to work more smoothly alongside Hyper-V and other Windows virtualisation features, reducing setup friction for players who prefer to leave those options enabled.
Performance sees some attention as well. The company says internal testing showed higher average frame rates compared with previous versions of the emulator across a range of games, although real-world results will naturally depend on individual hardware configurations.
Rather than introducing a host of new features, LDPlayer 14 focuses on improving the fundamentals. Updated Android support and broader Windows compatibility may not be the most eye-catching additions, but they're the sort of improvements that can make a noticeable difference as mobile games continue to raise their technical requirements.
LDPlayer 14 is available now as a free download for Windows PCs.
