These are the top 5 mobile games like Diablo for iOS
Diablo is an incredibly successful action RPG enjoyed by millions of people across the globe. Eventually, it came to mobile as Diablo Immortal and has somewhat managed to escape the memes surrounding it after one of the developers asked the audience an ill-advised question during the announcement Q&A.
Still, even though Diablo Immortal surprised many of us and exceeded a few sceptical expectations, it still might not tick all of your boxes. Perhaps you don't particularly like the setting or want to try something new. We're not here to judge. Whatever the reason, we've put together a list of 5 mobile games like Diablo.
1. ETERNIUM
Billed as an action RPG made by old-school fans of the genre, Eternium wears its inspiration firmly on its sleeve. Being fans of older stuff, the developers have attempted to steer clear of the usual free-to-play gubbins that usually put a lot of people off. And, considering it's still going strong after a decade, I'd say they're doing a good job of making the money they need without turning off their audience.Developer Making Fun claims that 90% of its player base has never spent a penny and that there are no paywalls or pay-to-win shenanigans to worry about. So, if you're looking to scratch your Diablo itch without spending a fortune, Eternium is a solid option.
It's also built with mobile play in mind, offering tap-to-move and swipe-to-cast controls rather than the virtual thumb stick approach that sometimes feels a tad cumbersome. Perhaps more importantly, you can enjoy a session offline, making it a good companion for a flight or if you happen to live in an area with poor signal.
As for what to expect, there are no great surprises here. You can choose between Mage, Warrior or Bounty Hunter as your class before smashing your way through skeletons, zombies, demons and even aliens. So, it's standard fantasy stuff, for the most part, with the occasional otherworldly being.

2. BOOK OF DEMONS
Our next entry has definitely taken a few pages from Diablo's playbook. Ahem. Please, pardon that atrocious wordplay. Anyway, the Book of Demons' world is illustrated beautifully, with your character and enemies alike looking like they've been torn straight from a pop-up book. But don't be fooled by their handcrafted appearance. Even paper demons are deadly. It contains traditionally generated dungeons, with item cards acting as loot. If you ever feel you made the wrong choice, you can even equip or switch them out mid-battle, so you never feel 100% locked into any path. There are three classes to choose from and an eight-hour campaign to battle through. It does become slightly repetitive after a little while, but if you're into Diablo-like action RPGs, that's likely part of the appeal.

3. Torchlight Infinite
Another action RPG stable that made its way over to mobile in recent years is Torchlight. Though not as popular as Diablo historically, it has a sizeable, dedicated fanbase that's helped it take off on phones with Torchlight Infinite. First released in October 2022, it's only gone from strength to strength since, mostly thanks to developer XD Inc investing in the live service model in a big way.Torchlight Infinite receives a constant swathe of updates, which are billed as different seasons. Each introduces new characters, events and areas. Not only does this expand the game world, it provides us with additional content on a regular basis, making it worth revisiting every so often to see what's new.
So, if playing an action RPG that's never short of content appeals to you, check it out. If you want to learn more about the gameplay, give Will's review on our sibling site, Pocket Gamer, a read.

4. Titan Quest: Legendary Edition
Next, we have another genre staple with Titan Quest: Legendary Edition. Originally released all the way back in 2006, this excellent action RPG is now available for iOS. It sees you setting off on a journey to save the world, as is often the case with these things. If the world isn't at stake, is there any real point in getting involved?More specifically, the titular Titans are causing problems, even for the Gods, so it's up to you to provide assistance. Your adventure will take you through Greece, Egypt, Babylon, and China as you gather new weapons and skills to fell all the nasties beasties and gigantic foes you'll meet along the way.

5. BASTION
Action RPGs are rarely praised for their storyline and atmosphere. However, Supergiant Games’ debut, Bastion, is unlike any other. It offers a breathtaking plot shedding light on the Calamity, an incident that annihilated the city of Caledonia. Playing as the Kid, you are a skilled survivor of this land, familiar with its dark and violent ways. As part of his quest to resurrect even a bit of what was lost, the Kid meets Rucks, a man who controls the gathering of the cores that once fueled Caelondia. Also acting as the narrator, Rucks is able to provide both live and colour commentary on every action and mistake made by the Kid. Backed with a great soundtrack and a beautiful art style, this fast-paced, chaotic action RPG is an amazing addition to the list. And although gear isn't a prominent feature, there are still multiple weapons to choose from. So if some isometric action with an enjoyable story is up your street, Bastion is for you.
