Final Fantasy XIV Mobile gets a release date for Chinese devices as local writer bursts with jealousy
If you follow MMORPGs, you will know that Final Fantasy XIV has been on something of a downward trend. The latest expansion, Dawntrail, was just terrible, to be frank, and the post-patches didn’t do much to fix it. The latest release, 7.2, has corrected course, and in good time, as a recent listing on the Chinese iOS App Store has given us a date for the Final Fantasy FIV Mobile version.
It is a very exciting prospect to have this esteemed MMO on the go, even if it is only going to be released in China to begin with. The iOS page states August 29th as a release day, and even though this can be a bit of a moving target, it is nice to have a timeline for when I need to become proficient in Chinese, Ni hao and such.
Since Lightspeed Studios and Square Enix announced this upcoming release back on November 20th, it has been relatively quiet. And by relatively, I meant the official website has only had one further piece of news, two days afterwards. Although, just hearing the release date is making me want to break from my Xenoblade Chronicles X stupor and boot up the PC game.

We do know that the mobile version will be a like-for-like remake of the current release, albeit scaled back to the A Realm Reborn expansion. This means we will have all the content from levels 1 through 50, including the Gold Saucer, Primal battles, and the initial swathe of classes. To note, the trailer didn’t show a Rogue, so we are talking the real basics.
No matter what shape this does roll out in, August 29th can’t come fast enough. I, for one, am incredibly eager for the global release and my portable return to the world of Eorzea. You can check out the Chinese App Store page, just be warned that it is, you know, written in Chinese.
