Pokémon TCG Pocket announces upcoming expansion launching later this month

When it comes to the main series of Pokémon games, I was never that into Sun and Moon. The setting was alright, but the Ultra Beasts just always rubbed me the wrong way. Which is just dandy, because Pokémon TCG Pocket has announced their newest expansion, Extradimensional Crisis, and can you guess whose starring? 

That’s right, the Ultra Beasts are coming to play starting May 29th, just one short week away. One of the best parts of this set, though, is that we are back to just one booster set. It is decent artwork as well, featuring Buzzwole on a very striking red colour-scheme. I might pull a few just to look at the pack closer.

Speaking of a closer look, we know what a few of the cards are going to be, and it has to be said, some of them look pretty good. Take Nihilego, for example. It is a basic with one retreat cost, but it comes with two very exciting perks. First, its Ability is More Poison, causing your opponent to take 10 more poison damage. Second, it can inflict Poison for two energy. Suddenly, your poison deck is nearly twice as effective.

We are also getting another dragon in the form of Ultra Necrozma ex, but sadly, I am not that impressed. Its highlight is dealing 120 damage and making each player discard the top 5 cards of their deck. It could be useful if you set your field up quickly, but you need two psychic and two metal energies to pull it off, and that sounds too much of a hassle to be worth it.

I would like to finish with another card, not a particularly powerful one. Rowlet. It has the potential to deal 30 damage for one energy which is nice, but most importantly, the card art is frigging adorable. They are near the end of the trailer, happily sitting in a hanging basket in a delightful office with a big smile on their face. It is so cute, and it must be protected at all costs. Keep your Ultra Beasts, I'll take the bird.
