When trading was released in Pokémon TCG Pocket, it was rightly criticised for being a catastrophe. Let’s not go too deep into why now, but it was a mess. We are now, after months of waiting, receiving a restructuring for this mechanic, and it sounds much better.

I say much better; it was frankly my worst-case scenario before The Pokémon Company managed to go even further. From July 29th, trading will be done with Shinedust instead, which is the same thing you need a heap of to give your cards flairs. Whilst we will need to collect more, it is at least more plentiful than Trade Tokens ever were.

Before you start wailing about all of those wasted Trade Tokens, stay your tears! You will be able to head to the exchange store and buy some helpful items. To start with, you can swap one token for one Pack Hourglass. Because it would be broken otherwise, this particular stock is capped at 60.

Since you will need a lot of Shinedust in the new system, you can trade the lion's share of your defunct tokens for them in different quantities. One Token gets you 10 Shinedust, 10 Tokens will net you 100 Shinedust, and then 100 Tokens will stuff your pockets with a huge 1,000 Shinedust. You will be trading till your head spins.

In order to make sure the system is in tip-top shape, trading will be suspended from July 24th until July 29th at 10:59 PDT. It will be worth the wait, however, since we are also getting a Wishlist feature. You can add 20 cards to this list, with three being featured on your profile. Then, your friends will see what you are after and offer more accurate trades. For me, it will be Lucario and Eevees.

Pokémon TCG Pocket is available to download from the App Store and Google Play.
