PUBG Mobile players are sick of the constant collaborations, but will they ever stop?
PUBG Mobile has been getting a lot of collaborations the past few years, adding a wide range of random cosmetics, vehicles, and more. However, the constant collabs have been getting backlash from the community.
Recently, a player went to Reddit to express their disappointment: "The game looks trash. It used to be so good. Real. Authentic. Full of real players and not a dull moment.
Now it’s full of bare shit. S****y costumes and fantastical ideas and themes. I wish it would go back to how PUBG really is."
You mean... You don't think Peaky Blinders and Porsche and Balenciaga makes sense in a game about a violent war? I personally started losing my mind after the Schott NYC collab.
Not only do I not understand why we need a collaboration with a leather jacket designer, but there's just so many collaborations that I can't even keep track. I feel like every time I go online, I hear of yet another collaboration in PUBG Mobile. How can there be all these random cosmetics added every week?
One player responded to the frustrated OP: "The core gameplay is nearly the same, with a few new items and mechanics. Simply don't download all the tacky skins, and you can choose to play with event mode off and play classic Erangel or Miramar.
"The gameplay is still just as great if not better. the event modes are tacky and I wish they would make less of them but that doesn't stop me from having fun. The skins are ridiculous sometimes but you don't need to use them or even see them ( delete skin resources )."
It's good advice, but I can't help but notice the first line. Only a FEW new items and mechanics. So PUBG Mobile barely changes the gameplay itself and instead continues to rapidly add cosmetics based on random IPs and clothing brands and cars.
Over in PC land, Call of Duty devs had to promise that no wacky, random collaboration cosmetics would be allowed to transfer to its next title. This is after the gaming community continuously raged about the idea of Beavis and Butthead in the game. Similar to the PUBG Mobile players, the CoD players felt the authentic, gritty, and intense original feeling of the shooter was lost due to all the zany cosmetics.
It's possible that PUBG Mobile could follow suit and stop with all the cosmetics that continue to break the realism and intensity of the game. But I have a feeling they are here to stay.
