PUBG Mobile 4.2 brings Primewood Genesis' dangerous trees and corruption zones
PUBG Mobile's latest update is bringing classic updates and a new themed mode (and no random collabs, sorry).
On social media, the team wrote: "PUBG MOBILE version 4.2 will bring a series of classic updates and optimizations! Training Grounds Team-Up, Cooperative Climbing, and much more! Thank you for your continued feedback and support! WE CAN DO ALL WITH OUR PLAYERS!"
When is PUBG Mobile 4.2 coming?
The current themed mode is going to conclude on January 5th, 2026. This leads us to believe that the next update, 4.2, will launch on January 6th, 2026. One PUBG Mobile account says January 7th, 2026, although this could be due to various time zones. If it continues to follow previous patch patterns, 4.2 will roll out in phases, starting in certain regions. Most players should eventually get the update on the same day.
Primewood Genesis
Primewood Genesis is the latest themed mode for PUBG Mobile players. It's a very nature-focused theme with an interesting backstory. A Sacred Tree has taken over the map's urban areas, making it overgrown and dangerous. It's harder to see and there are more environmental hazards to navigate. (Luckily, it doesn't seem as though Groot is involved.)In addition, some locations are blocked by massive roots, not allowing players to get to them. To get to these areas, players have to clear corrupted zones. But doing so mid-battle may prove tricky.
The corruption zones will appear across the map and be marked for players to find. If you do manage to destroy the plants that are taking over the zone, you will get a suply drop. Of course, this means that a lot of players will have the same idea as you, making these areas extra dangerous.
