PUBG Mobile players want Promotion Matches removed in 4.3 update
Krafton introduced Promotion Matches in PUBG Mobile 4.2 update to make the higher ranks more exclusive.
Under this system, players ranked Ace and above have to successfully pass a set of Promotion games in order to advance to the next tier.
While it initially seemed like a step in the right direction, Promotion Matches have caused frustration within the community, with multiple players calling them “diabolical” and “Demotion and Demotivation Matches."
That said, the other part of the community has asked the “noobs” to stop complaining, arguing that the challenges are easy to complete.
Why are PUBG Mobile players mad over Promotion Matches?
One of the main complaints from the majority of players is that the Promotion Matches reward camping rather than aggressive playstyles. This is because teams are required to cross a minimum placement threshold consecutively in order to advance to the next tier. For example, to reach Ace, a player has to achieve a top 15 finish on Erangel and make it to top eight on Livik. While this may not seem too hard, the requirements get more and more challenging as players progress to higher tiers.
Moreover, according to several casual players, the system adds extra stress, especially when they play with random teammates and has even led some to stop trying to rank up altogether.
“Feels like even persons admitted in ICU who are in a coma have higher chances of coming back to life rather than doing 3+4+5 impossible Promotion Matches!!!” a user stated on the PUBG Mobile subreddit.
While some may argue that the playstyle can be adjusted for a few games just to get promoted, if a team fails to meet the required placement, it will have to start the entire process all over again. This could happen due to unfavourable zones or being eliminated early before even finding proper loot.
“I am stuck at Ace Dominator promotion for a week now and honestly I am tired or trying anymore. A few times I’ve got to the last and second to last promotion match and lost, so I have to do it all over again,” another player shared.
While asking for the permanent removal of Promotion Matches may be a bit of an unrealistic demand, Krafton can certainly make a few improvements to make the experience more enjoyable for players.
Although moderators on the PUBG Mobile subreddit have encouraged users to share their feedback regarding the system, the publisher hasn’t officially confirmed any changes.
That said, it will be interesting to see if we get to see any adjustments in the upcoming PUBG Mobile 4.3 update releasing on March 12th.
