PUBG Mobile will partner with just about everything and everyone
PUBG Mobile has just announced a crossover event with Rockstar Energy. Yes, Balenciaga and Sonic were not enough. Don't even try to make sense of it anymore.
Throughout the holiday season, you can find exclusive in-game cosmetics inspired by Rockstar Energy, including streetwear items - jacket, pants, sunglasses, hat, shoes - so you can kill enemies while dressed in Rockstar-branded clothing.
The collaboration is also leaking into the real world with a fan giveaway. One hundred gamers will get the real-life version of the Rockstar Energy jacket in-game.
PUBG Mobile devs appear to be delusional about the importance of a Rockstar Energy collab
This is something that Rockstar Energy's Senior Brand Manager Aron Jacobwitz feels is "pushing boundaries." Yes, adding more goofy cosmetics to the game. Again."We're thrilled for players to gear up with this exclusive Rockstar-branded jacket and can't wait to see how our fans incorporate this into their personal style outside the game," he said.
Tencent's Head of PUBG Mobile Publishing, Vincent Wang, also had a lot of marketing fluff to add. He called Rockstar Energy "one of the world's most iconic brands." I'm not sure if I'd really agree.
A quick look at Google would tell you the most iconic brands are Apple, Coca-Cola, McDonald's, Nike, Disney, Amazon, and Rockstar Energy. Ha, just kidding about the last one. It was not mentioned.
Anybody want to make any guesses on what will randomly appear in PUBG Mobile in the next few days? Maybe expired meme Bombini Goosini or the cast of the critically disliked Wicked 2 or maybe even Soulja Boy's scammy handheld console? I feel like anything is allowed to show up in the game at this point.
