Real Flight Simulator’s latest update adds new lighting and a fully spherical Earth
I am not the biggest fan of flying simulators myself. Planes and I don’t mix well. Being quite tall, I’d have to stuff myself into a cupboard for a true flight simulator. Luckily, Real Flight Simulator is a great way to experience virtual flying, and with its latest extensive update, it is better than ever.
The headline for this update is the introduction of a fully spherical Earth. Take that flat earth society. With each flight you take, you will be able to appreciate the natural curvature of our planet and enjoy a vastly more realistic perspective. With enhanced depth, long-range visibility, and spatial orientation, you will truly feel like you are on that cosy 9-hour flight.
It isn’t just Earth’s curvature that is getting more real; so is the world itself. Sharper satellite imagery gives you a clearer view of countries, and refined terrain mapping will give you much more authentic mountains to avoid. If you are flying around the North and South poles, you will notice improved flight dynamics and fully rebuilt polar regions.

The light system has been revamped, resulting in a stronger contrast and dynamic sunrises and sunsets with more natural tones. Water bodies will also reflect improved colours and transparency, although if you are close enough to notice the prettier seas, you are probably in a fair bit of trouble.
The aircraft lighting has been upgraded for more accurate reflections and surface details under various lighting conditions, which is nice, but surely you're going to be looking forward 99% of the time. Finally, fog effects have been significantly reduced. Whilst this is helpful for both VFR and IFR navigation, if I had spent this much time making my game pretty, I would turn down the obscuring fog too.
You can experience Real Flight Simulator's latest update by downloading the game from the App Store and Google Play.
