"I'm slow": Balatro dev delays Update 1.1 until 2026
Balatro fans may be disappointed to learn that Update 1.1 is not coming as soon as expected. In fact, it's not coming this year at all.
Creator LocalThunk recently confirmed that the update has been delayed until 2026. While the post stated that Dan Dilorio felt bad for breaking his promise, he said admitted he shouldn't have even announced a date for Update 1.1 to begin with, adding that he's "slow."
Dilorio explained that he started off developing the game as a hobby and has been struggling with the pressure and timeline of being a professional developer. He expressed that he was "truly burnt out" in late 2024 after the mobile version (us, woops) came out.
After a break for a few months, Dilorio got back to work. He said: "It turns out that it’s a lot slower than working in crunch mode 12 hours per day like I was around launch."
As a tinkerer and creative guy, Dilorio is going to be working slower and doesn't want tight time restraints. This way, his mind can wander and he can draw "silly jokers." This is the healthiest way for him to work and guarantees he can keep updating the game after 1.1.
When is Balatro Update 1.1 coming?
Simple: "It's done when it's done."While Dilorio is not going to leave the game, he doesn't plan to stress over the update or the game's timeline.
Honestly, the game is already fine as is, so gamers are not really looking to pressure LocalThunk to stress out over the update.
