VALORANT Mobile just had its first esports LAN event and it gave us some valuable insights.

The VALORANT Mobile tournament took place in China. Called the Platform Finals, it featured a prize pool of 300,000 CNY ($42,000). This tournament is part of China's national esports circuit, with the Platform Finals one of four pathways to the country's National Finals. This event will have a $418,000 prize pool.

VALORANT Mobile's Platform Finals action

Ahead of the Platform Finals, China's top streaming platforms (Bilibili, Douyin, KuaiShou) hosted online tournaments so teams could qualify for the event.

Eight teams made it to the Platform Finals, competing in person at the Guangzhou Canton Tower Plaza in front of a live audience. The event was single-elimination, making each match an intense life or death fight for a spot in the Grand Finals.

In the end, EDward Gaming and ACE PRIME CORE clashed at the end for the win. ACE PRIME CORE ended up victorious, but both teams are now qualified for the National Finals in December.

Other teams that want to qualify for the National Finals will compete in national qualifiers and collegiate tournaments over the next few months.

VALORANT Mobile is set to be one of the next big mobile esports. Riot Games is investing hundreds of millions into the game over the next three years to grow its competitive scene.

Meanwhile, the game has not been released outside of China.
