Well... I'm Intrigued

About Love, Hate, and the Other Ones is looking to be an interesting puzzle platformer with a lot of charm. It releases on October 23rd, and even after watching the trailer, I'm not too sure what to make of it, but as the heading of this piece says, I am most certainly intrigued. .…

Sometimes it's not so hip to be a Square

Especially when the name of the game is Square Planet. Pending Apple approval, this will be out on October 19th, and is an artistically beautiful looking 2.5D platformer. Let's hope the gameplay matches up. Have a look at the trailer.…

100 day game Super-Fluid hits the App Store

Super-Fluid is the result of one hundred days of hard work. Created as part of Virgin Media's 100 Day challenge, the game is a side scrolling puzzler. The game was built by a team of four graduate developers from the University of Essex in the UK, who after forming Surface Tension Studios were propelled into a heady century of developing, testing, and getting advice from some of the best in the business. "We’ve had a fantastic time and would like to thank Virgin Media for giving us this amazing opportunity." said Dave Pearson from Surface Tension in a press release. "We've always wanted to work in the games industry and now thanks to this competition it's really happening. We&rsqu…

Sword of Fargoal 2 gets Kickstarted

The best success stories are always the ones that skirt dangerously close to failure. So it was with Sword of Fargoal 2's Kickstarter adventure, which saw the retro Rogue-like scrape past its funding amount with seconds to spare. The game is a true sequel to a C64 dungeon crawler that came out more than a quarter of a century ago and challenged you to raid randomly generated dungeons in order to discover and reclaim the titular sword. This new polished version will feature new monsters, new dungeons, new heroes - pretty much new everything really, while drawing on the legacy of the original. If you fancy trying out some old school dungeon crawling action and you can't wait for Fargoal 2,…

QI's top 10 iPhone Games for September 2012

While we're already off and running in the month of October, the QI list of the top games for September is up, so let us take a look at what that list contains. 1. Poker Tools 2. FIFA 13 3. God of Blades 4. Gingy5. Rayman Jungle Run6. Blast-A-Way7. Bad Piggies8. Crafty Creatures9. Pocket Trucks10. Linkie Now our top 3 isn't out just yet, but it'll be interesting to see if there are any match ups. I expect Bad Piggies to be mentioned, and maybe God of Blades or Rayman: Jungle Run. What i find kinda iffy though is that Poker Tools isn't even a game... it's an app to study the odds of poker hands. QI has seperate lists for games and apps in their top ten, so i do find this odd. Ah well, let…

Swipe Magazine Issue 2 Now Out!

We here at AppSpy are proud to be part of the Steel Media network, especially when we get to share our thoughts in Swipe Magazine, a digital publication focused on the world of iOS and touch-based gaming. If you own an iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch, you should definitely pick up a free copy of the first magazine as it's packed full of news, reviews and interactive pieces to keep iOS fans informed. All it costs is a mere $1.99 to pick up the latest issue via In App Purchase, giving you access to all of its wonderful HTML-5 features including the patented (not really) 'swipe-o-rate-o-meter'. Oh and of course there's content from our site to look forward to, which is the real real reason you sh…

Gamevil releases Zombie Gunner

If slaughtering zombies is your cup of tea, then the App Store is likely a favourite haunt. And Gamevil has just added an extra bag to the urn with Zombie Gunner. The game is a side scrolling, cartoon shooter in a similar vein to Metal Slug, and casts you as Andrew, a civilian with a surprisingly impressive arsenal who's out to rescue his daughter from the stinking clutches of the undead horde. Like most of Gamevil's output, Zombie Gunner is free-to-play, meaning you can pick up the app for nothing, but you'll have to pay for certain items or to boost your coffers of currency. The game is available from the App Store right now, and it's probably worth a go just to see those gorgeous car…

Ivy the Kiwi? makes it to iOS

Ivy the Kiwi?, Yuji Naka's impressive vine swinging platformer, has finally made its way on to the App Store, bringing with it all of the former head of Sonic Team's design nous and charm. The game is all about guiding a stranded, flightless Kiwi through 50 levels, with the ultimate goal of reuniting her with her mother. Ivy's too young to jump or fly though, so you need to help her by pulling vines down for her to swing on. Highly praised when it first came out on Windows Phone, and when it was released on the Nintendo DS, the game is perfectly at home on touchscreen devices, and is a must buy for anyone with a penchant for platforming fun. Best of all, it's launched at a discounted pr…

I Always Kind Of Suspected it

Clumsy Cat is a game where as the house feline, you have to break as much stuff as possible. Not being a cat person, this type of action doesn't surprise me in the least. Have a look at the trailer to see what kind of hijinks are in store when the game is released on October 18th…

Zombies just in time for Halloween

Yes it's another zombie game, but being released on October 25th right before Halloween at least makes it a zombie game coming out at an appropriate time. It's NY Zombies 2, and it's shaping up to be a half decent first person zombie killing experience judging from the gameplay trailer. At least you get to gun down the undead in a lot of famous New York landmarks.…

How many Double Entendres can you Stuff into a Game Trailer?

While the game Hairy Balls is already out, the accompanying trailer is just so full of face-palming innuendos that we had to post it here. It definitly has a lot of character and a confident sense of humour (although your millage may very here). The app is free to download and if you're looking for a new puzzle game, why not give it a try.…

Crazy Taxi skids onto the App Store

Sega's Arcade and Dreamcast classic Crazy Taxi should be making its way to an App Store near you anytime soon, bringing with it the smell of burning rubber and the sound of mid-nineties punk rock. The game, for those of you who haven't played it, is all about delivering fares to their destination before the time runs out, with some point scoring power sliding and insane jumps thrown in for good measure. It's the latest in an increasingly long line of Sega properties that are making their way onto iOS devices. We've already seen a swathe of Sonic games, but there are more Dreamcast classics on the horizon too, so watch this space. Crazy Taxi should set you back around $4.99 once it lands…

Debut Gameplay Trailer for Badland

It's not often that the first visuals of a game can be impressive (after all, it's easy to quickly become jaded when dealing with so many games day in and day out), but after the first few seconds of this gameplay video for the upcoming Frogmind Games release Badland, i sat up and took notice. Let's hope that the gameplay remains as enticing as the atmosphere. As of now, there is no scheduled release date for the game, but we'll let you know when that changes.…

Changing the World

This Thursday, Topia will be released in the App Store. Not really a game, it's a world building simulation. You can terraform the land to your liking, introduce animals of all variaties, and watch what happens. It looks like a lot of fun, and is quite visually impressive (with rather simplistic controls). Have a look at the trailer.…
