Battlegrounds Mobile India sees massive viewership explosion in 2025
Battlegrounds Mobile India has been having a pretty big comeback in 2025 and the recently wrapped up BGMI Masters Series Season 4 showed a return to form.
From August 18th to September 14th, the top BGMI teams from around the world competed for nearly a month in New Delhi in hopes of being crowned the top team in India. The PUBG-inspired game had ₹1,43,20,000 ($163,920) on the line and fans tuning in from all around the world.
In the end, K9 Esports ran away with the competition. The squad had fans worried in the Group Stage but managed to survive. Then, K9 turned everything around in the Semifinals. That momentum carried into the Grand Final, where the team scored three Winner Winner Chicken Dinners and got over 100 points.
Battlegrounds Mobile India sees big viewership
According to Esports Charts, the BGMI Masters Series Season 4 finals, from September 12th to September 14th, had 10 million views on YouTube between its Hindi, English, and Gujarati broadcasts. India was, of course, the largest source of views, with the country's livestreaming app, JioHotstar, getting over 500,000 registered views over the final few days. The event's peak viewership was nearly 327,000 fans, making it one of the top events for the esport title. This is due to India unbanning the battle royale in 2023, allowing the game and its esports scene to grow significantly in 2024 and now 2025. Despite the earlier setback, it seems that BGMI is so back.
Esports Charts reported one big difference between 2024 and 2025 that has helped BGMI continue to grow since its return: more channels. Last year, 10 channels livestreamed the event. But this year? Eighty-four YouTube channels streamed the action. More and more organizers want to get involved as the esport scene grows and the ban slips into a fading history.
