Wipe the feathers out of Lady Justice’s eyes and quack in the face of evil as Duck Detective: The Secret Salami launches
Nothing else matters today, I don’t want to hear it, there is a game where you can solve mysteries with a duck in a trenchcoat and hat, you can’t top that. I was extremely excited when we covered the mobile release announcement back in January, and we can finally play Duck Detective: The Secret Salami.
I get a lot of random notifications on my phone, but when I saw the one saying “Your new game has been automatically installed”, I was ecstatic. One can only assume that the name alone would sell everyone, but in case you need a little more, let’s pluck this duck, shall we? I am aware that makes no sense, but it amused me enough that I had to write it.
Duck Detective: The Secret Salami follows the story of Eugene McQuacklin, an excellent name. He is a down-on-his-luck detective, which is a classic noir trope for good reason. His latest case sees him trying to track down the titular salami, and as you might guess from that, humour is indeed at the forefront of proceedings.

The world is full of anthropomorphic animals, and it is your job to interrogate them and find the truth of this purloined lunch. You can do this by asking questions, poking holes in stories, and if all else fails, just staring at them really hard. That is not a joke, it is a legitimate tactic in McQuacklin's arsenal. Have you ever been stared at by a duck? It is very unsettling.
Developers Happy Broccoli Games have already received near-universal acclaim for their take on the detective genre, so you know you are in good hands. It has done so well in fact, that there is a sequel coming this year: Duck Detective: The Ghost of Glamping. There is no mobile release confirmed as of yet, but fingers crossed. Or, wings crossed, I guess? The analogy has fallen apart quickly. Download the game.
Duck Detective: The Secret Salami is available to download now from the App Store and Google Play.
