Square Enix is calling the undertakers for the umpteenth time as War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is on borrowed time

When a mobile game reaches its fifth anniversary, as War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius did recently, you would expect a celebration. Maybe a few free gifts. Well, Square Enix decided to go a slightly different way, and on the day the global version turned five, they announced it was going to be discontinued.

If you have been reading my articles for a while, you will probably remember that this isn't the first time this has happened. Nor is it the second or third. Frankly, if you are a mobile game released by Square Enix you should probably make sure your affairs are in order on day one. 

The regular Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, Final Fantasy Record Keeper, Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier- these are but a few that I can remember off the top of my head that have been met with the chop. It seems to suggest that Square Enix is bailing from the mobile scene at a frantic rate. 

It is also a shame that War of the Visions is going out with a whimper, especially on its anniversary. There was even a big birthday/end-of-life bash. Instead, all we got was an in-game message and a post on the Square Enix site saying it was closing because “it would be difficult to maintain a satisfactory app experience”. 

Here is a rundown of the solid dates. Visiore sales and Special Shop sales have already ceased, although currently held Visiore can still be used until the end of service. Google Play Points can be exchanged until April 30th, but at this point, that's just a huge waste. This will come on May 29th, on which date the game will close and everyone's account will be deleted.
