Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis celebrates its second anniversary with a trip to the movies

Pinch yourself, for it has finally happened. A Square Enix mobile game has survived to reach an anniversary. The clouds have parted and the angels smile upon us. Hyperbolic? Perhaps, but it's nice to see they know how to keep an app going. I am, of course, speaking of Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis, because they closed damn near every other one.

All that aside, Ever Crisis has hit its second birthday, and it is time to celebrate. Diving into the vast bag of FF7-related tricks, Square Enix has pulled out Advent Children. If you haven’t heard of it, it was the excellent movie continuation of the main game. Well worth a watch, although you definitely need to have completed the game. 

Luckily, you don’t need to have watched it to enjoy the anniversary rewards, for it features the one and only Sephiroth. Insert music here. You can now add the infamous one-winged angel to your roster with Sephiroth (Original). As opposed to all those unoriginal cosplay Sephiorths', I suppose.

There are also a host of new outfits to collect. You can pick up Advent Children gear for Cloud and Tifa, with Young Sephiroth getting a Kadaj-inspired garb. He was the annoying antagonist. Happily, Yuffie is also getting her outfit. She is a divisive figure, but I have adored that idiotic Ninja since the PlayStation. 

As well as this new gear, you can now equip your party with Memoria. This will boost their stats and imbue them with the effects of the Memorias’ M. Ability, a shiny new type of Ability. Finally, and of course, we all knew this was coming: an Avalanche of free goodies for us all to enjoy. 

To begin, a 2nd Anniversary Gear Voucher that lets you pick any gear you like, excluding limited-time gear. Before you use it, make sure to hit the 5-Star Weapon Gift Login Bonus to get 30 weapons, all with six Overboost at Level 120. 

Hopefully, they line up with the characters you get from the 10 free daily draws, capping at 250, and the 200 Draw Tickets from the regular Login Bonus. You’ll also nab the Memoria of the 2nd anniversary, 3 Reawakened: Limit Break Medals, and 100 Stamina Tonic.

It is a perfect time to join, so download Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis from the App Store and Google Play. Before Square Enix shut it. I can’t help it, it's a sickness.
