Infinity Nikki x Stardew Valley collab isn't enough to please frustrated gamers
Two super cozy games are (gently) colliding — brushing against one another? I don't know, sounds creepy — in an upcoming crossover between Stardew Valley and Infinity Nikki.
On September 1st, the two games will come together for what's likely a very wholesome collaboration. However, the details have not been released just yet.
"We're overjoyed to announce an official collaboration with the beloved Stardew Valley! Cozy surprises await you, and adventure is in the air. Prepare your senses for a harvest of wonders," Infinity Nikki tweeted on X.
I mean, how much more wholesome can it be!? Well, don't ask Infinity Nikki players how they feel.
Infinity Nikki fans don't think the Stardew Valley crossover is cute
For the past few months, Infinity Nikki players have not been very happy with the game's developer, Infold. Ever since the 1.5 Update hit in April, the community has been calling the game a "cash grab." Why? The update made it even harder to collect full outfits — it'll take more time and money. The community was so angry they staged a "girlcott," causing Infold to apologize by attempting to take back some of the unpopular changes. It wasn't enough, however, and the community is still frustrated.
To make matters even worse, Infold decided to call out the community's leakers (who help players make better decisions on spending money on current outfits versus waiting for the next update). This only made developers look greedier — you can guess if that helped or not.
"Those responsible may gain short-term benefit, but they will face the consequences. We have already launched a full investigation into the matter and will pursue the appropriate legal action. At this time, we ask for your support: please do not share or discuss leaked content."
Oh and: "Leaks are poison to all creation!!!"
Gamers have been calling the developers childish and greedy ever since. Some even accused Infold of trying to control how the community spends its money. If the team won't share its plans, why punish leakers for attempting to provide insight?
Simply put: It's a mess.
While nobody is upset about Stardew Valley in particular, it does raise questions about whether Infold is attempting to brush the drama under the rug (or dress). Is this a distraction? A cute distraction?
