KartRider Rush+ honors one of China's most iconic work of arts in its Journey to the West season

Back when Wu Cheng'en penned Journey to the West hundreds of years ago, they probably didn’t know how much of an effect it would have on the world. In modern times, it has influenced so much media, from films to TV to games. Now, we can add racing to the list, as KartRider Rush+ enters its 31st Season.

Journey to the West, as it is somewhat obviously called, brings with it the customary mix of racers, tracks, and of course, karts. Plus, a helping of events to keep you coming back for more. Oddly enough though, it seems Sun Wukong himself is strangely absent.

Instead, you can place characters such as Zhu Bajie Keffy, Tang Sanzang Bazzi and Sha Wujing Lodumani in the driver's seat. And what will they be driving? Well, the highlight karts this time around are Luce Bluestorm and Luce Blackstorm, but that isn’t all. 

You can also pick up four item karts in the likes of Golden Kitty Cruiser, Golden Nimbus, Honeybee and Porkchopper. Those who care more for red-lining in races can instead drive one of three speed karts with Pegasus Marathon, Game Kartridge and Sunset Boxster.

After you pick your new racer and kart duo, you can hit this season's tracks. Kicking off, we have the Perimeter Dash (Camelot) Speed Race track for those thrill seekers. There is also the Dam Showdown (Village) Speed and Item track scheduled to drop on March 26th, and the Crossroads of Fate (Abuss) Speed Race track on April 10th.

Finally, the events. You can pick up the Wukong Balloon and more by participating in daily Ranked Mode races with the Journey to the West: Time to Warm Up! event until March 22nd. Anyone who logs in by March 30th will get the 7-day time-limited Pegasus Marathon and Honeybee karts. Season Coins you gather from these events can be traded for the likes of the Aerial Laser and Three Kingdoms Set (M/F) before April 28th. And last but not least, from March 31st to April 16th you can take part in the Fantasy Journey to the West event to win the Flamegale Driftmoi, Frost Headgear, and more.
