The King of Fighters AFK releases a character with the most misleading name ever

You can now do battle with the power of music, thanks to the Legendary Athena Asamiya. She is a high school pop idol, but unfortunately, she doesn’t beat people with the power of her voice, like Black Bolt or the Dragonborn. Instead, she uses Kung Fu, as well as some innate psychic powers she was born with. 

Now, here are the two things that bother me. First, why the high school pop idol angle if that doesn’t factor into her skill set at all? And second, I am wildly disappointed that someone named after the Greek goddess of war isn't wildly more imposing, for want of a better word. But maybe that's just me.

Speaking of her skillset, she is much more of a buffer than a fighter. Again, not honouring her namesake. Her Shining Crystal Bit deals 320% of her ATK as damage to a damage and 2 adjacent enemies, as well as granting ATK Up Lv 4 to allies in the same row for two turns. Her finisher, Super Phoenix Infinity, also grants the CRIT DMG Up Lv 1 buff to allies in her row, whilst hitting all enemies for 350% of her ATK. These are pretty good, provided you have an effective Back Row, as her passive increases her DEX by 20% whilst there.

Athena has a Precision Synergy, so of course, alongside her Pick-Up Event lasting until October 29th, there is also the Endurance Synergy Pick-Up Summon Event. It's only logical. What does make sense is that we are also being treated to a Halloween event, the Spooky Night 1 Event.

It lasts until November 5th, and will shower you with presents for logging in, including the Jack-o’-Lantern profile and power-up resources. If that is a little too scary for you, head to the Tropical Island Event, live until October 22nd, for a chance to obtain the Anone and Psybunny Legendary pets.
