Go 200MPH from the comfort of your phone with New Star GP

If you are looking for a sports sim then frankly at this point you are spoilt for choice, but I always fall back on the works of New Star Games. The BAFTA award-winning studio has put out some genuine stunners such as New Star Soccer, Retro Goal, and Retro Bowl, and is adding to the pile with New Star GP.

As someone who has gotten way too into F1 24 on the Game Pass lately to the point he is convinced he could do it better than the pros, this comes at a perfect time for me. And I am sure I won’t be the only one excited to play it. Formula races of any category bring big viewers, yet there are surprisingly few games around them.

New Star GBP is a fast, arcade-style spin on the sport with retro visuals. If you have played a New Star title before, you know what to expect, but obviously, the pixels are a bit bigger on a racer. There is some additional tactical depth to proceedings, however, such as having to take the customary pit stops to change tyres and the like.

Career Mode will kick off in the 80s, working through five decades of GPs until the modern day. Suffice it to say, you probably won’t keep the same driver all those years. There are a massive 176 events to sink your teeth into, split between the likes of checkpoint races, elimination events, time trails, and of course, good old-fashioned GPs.

There are 17 championship competitions to compete in, set across the 17 track locations from Career Mode. If that isn't enough for you, however, then check out the creation mode. Here you can make your own custom competitions, setting the number of laps, weather, tracks, race speed, and all manner of options.
