Pokémon TCG Pocket reveals upcoming booster and we are going back to where it all began

I don’t know about anyone else, but I was wildly disappointed in the last Pokémon TCG Pocket booster pack. Mega Rising was touted as the arrival of Mega Evolutions, and then, out of the nearly 50 available, they included about 5. Now, Crimson Blaze has been revealed with a launch date of December 17th, and it has a few new megas.

We are going back to Kanto this time, with Mega Venusaur, Mega Blastoise, and Mega Charizard Y in the line up. Again, not a wisp of Mega Lucario, a travesty! One positive, however, is that there seems to be just the one pack here, so we aren’t having to spread out pulls across three different packs.

Up front and centre on this expansion, we have Mega Charizard Y EX. They sport 220 HP, and for four energy, three five, and a normal, they can pull off the 250 power Crimson Dive. However, this also does 50 damage to Charizard, opening them up to a counterattack in the next turn. Incredibly powerful, but you need to think two moves ahead with this.

On the other side of the type-matchup is Mega Blastoise EX. Slightly tankier with 230 HP, for three energy, two waters, and a normal, you can deal 130 damage with Triple Bombardment.

What about the other two Bombardments, you ask? Well, if you have three extra water energy attached, you also deal 50 damage to two of your opponents' Benched Pokémon. Devastating if the infamous water ramp cards go your way.

Finally, we can’t leave out Mega Venusaur ex, although looking at its move, maybe we could. With 240 HP, you can use Critical Bloom for two grass and two normal energy. This deals 120 damage and causes your opponent to be poisoned and fall asleep. Yes, I know status moves are good, but I prefer raw power to playing tactical.

Give me the smooth brain Mega Charizard Y unga-bunga card instead. The “I will KO everyone in this battle as long as you are one of them” method. Or, better yet, give me Mega Lucario, you cowards! And not the stupid fish-like Z one!

Pokémon TCG Pocket is available from the App Store and Google Play.
