Rainbow Six Mobile roadmap reveals Ranked mode, maps, and other competitive features
Ubisoft has now revealed the roadmap for the game, which includes the introduction of new competitive elements such as Ranked Mode, Competitive Maps, Caster Mode, and more.
The biggest addition next season will be the Ranked Mode, with each season running across two Operations. Moreover, each Ranked Season will feature a Ranked Event that will offer an exclusive Operator Skin for top-performing players.
After each Ranked Season, players ranked from Platinum to Master will have their ranks reset to Gold, while others will remain at their current level.
Ubisoft is also introducing a dedicated matchmaking system based on rank, skill rating (MMR), and ping in order to ensure fair competition.
Preference will be given to matching players from the same region against each other; however, if suitable opponents are not found, the system will expand the search.
Ranked Mode will be played on seven maps, including Bank, Clubhouse, Villa, Oregon, Border, and Summit, with the final one to be revealed at a later date.
Site and Spawn Selection is also arriving next season, allowing attackers to choose their spawn location and defenders to pick an objective room.
While the developers stated in March that they had no update on the addition of 120 FPS, the option is now set to arrive next season. However, it will be a beta feature available only on mobile devices with over 6 GB RAM and a 120 Hz display.
For those who don’t want to settle the debate over who is the best player in their group, Private Matches will offer a solution. Moreover, Ubisoft will also add the option to play them offline in the future.
Other features coming next season include Settings 2.0, Latency and Connection Improvements, and more. That said, the developers are also working on Ping Wheel, Caster Mode, Map Training, and more, which will be released in future seasons.
Are Rainbow Six Mobile Esports Events on the Horizon?
With Ubisoft announcing Ranked Mode and various other competitive features, along with Caster Mode and Competitive Events, we can expect an official announcement regarding Rainbow Six Mobile esports events in the coming months. The PC counterpart of the title already has an established circuit; however, R6M will need time to reach a similar level, as it is still a relatively new title and Ubisoft will need time to assess its full potential and player interest.
