Red Bull Playground brings three high-octane urban sports to mobile

There once was a time when Red Bull wasn’t plastered all over every aspect of life. Hard to believe, yes, but over the years, they have managed to sneak into F1, soapbox racing, cliff diving, motocross, and terrible television ads, to name a few. We can now add mobile gaming to this list, with Red Bull Playgrounds now available.

Developed by Traplight Games and published by Red Bull, Playgrounds is an urban sports adventure that comprises BMX, Skateboarding, and Parkour. To be fair, I am sure everyone has wanted to try at least one of these things before. Think Tony Hawk, but with a lot more energy drinks.

You can switch between the three sports at will, mastering skills and tricks for each, becoming a rockstar of the urban environment. Playgrounds also comes with an intuitive track builder so you can create some monster courses. Here you can interact with the games’ global community as well.

There are a ton of moves you will need to master in order to become a powerhouse in your chosen sport. Or all three of them, you little overachiever you. That is where mentors come in. Real-world stars including Garrett Reynolds, Dominic Di Tommaso, and Margie Didal will be on hand to help your repertoire bloom.

Of course, with sports like these, you know that a competition is going to break out at some point. That is where Jams come in. You will go head-to-head, most likely the wall or floor, as you do trick-filled battles with your foes. All to claim a prime spot on the leaderboard and start your reign as Playgrounds champion. 

As I often say, there is no point in winning if you don’t look good doing it. Luckily, there is a host of customisation options for your athlete. These include official brands such as BSD, Mongoose, and TSG, as long as they are padded incredibly well.
