Square Enix set to drop their prices?

It looks like there might be some wriggle room in Square Enix's often derided pricing structure. The Japanese power house's head of mobile for Europe, Antony Douglas, had some interesting things to say on the subject at the recent Casual Connect conference in Kiev. “$20 for something you can play for 30 or 40 hours is still cheaper than what you can get on a handheld.  [Square Enix] Japan are trying that and seeing how it works, and it works very well in Japan." "It has been commented on quite a lot in Europe in the West, [and] they’re responding to it.  They’re seeing the feedback, and there will probably be changes in the way that it’s structured.”…

MONOPOLY Millionaire Review

There's a lot to be said for the mobile versions of Monopoly that EA have released over the years. In my experience, no game is responsible for causing more arguments amongst friends (maybe Mario Kart), so it's nice to be able to enjoy such a well designed take on capitalism playing against computer controlled opponents. For those of you who don't have a problem playing with friends, there's always that option too, and plenty of tweaks to create the type of game you want to play. So t…

Devil's Attorney Review

Devil's Attorney Review

When we think of turn based RPG combat, our minds turn to the genres of fantasy and science-fiction. I mean every now and then, you get something like Earthbound, but for the most part, the RPG genre is locked into preconceived notions of what to expect. Then along comes Devil's Attorney, which takes turn based combat, and puts it into a courtroom, where you control the scumbag lawyer Max McMann, using every dirty trick in his arsenal to free your clients from the prosecution, and all…

Dead Triggers gets new level for Halloween

Madfinger's violent zombie slaughtering FPS is set to receive a spooky update to celebrate that most terrifying of all commercialised holidays, Halloween. The new update, which is already available on the Google Play Store, adds a new graveyard level to the game, as well as plenty of pumpkin-headed undead for you to murder in various ways. There's a new weapon to aid you in your undead massacre as well, a crossbow that fires incendiary bolts that spread fire, death, and mayhem wherever they land. iOS owners should be getting the update pretty soon, and anyone with a Android device powerful enough to run the game should have it already. To whet your appetite in the meantime, here's a spook…

Halloween iOS Bonanza

Halloween iOS Bonanza

It's the time of year where countries around the world get used to the aroma of pumpkin and spices in the air - not that I'm complaining personally because I love me some seasonal treaties, but it's nice to think we can enjoy more than just food and candy this year. As such I've collected news on a bunch of great seaonal themed updates and special deals that you can jump in on to provide you with a great distraction for the next couple weeks, or if you want to horde them, to survive the Thanksgiving season. Mikey Shorts Halloween - A Free Seasonal Taster Instead of simply changing the aesthetics of their smash hit game Mikey Shorts, Beaver Tap Games have opted to go one better, creating a…

Squids Wild West - Free For A Short Time!

We've got another great deal for you today and it could be ending any moment! Squids Wild West is the continuing saga of a group of sea-creatures out to save the world from the black goop turning everyone in to minless minions. Featuring flick-based action and a turn-based RPG system, you'll be kept busy for hours as you conquer not only the extensive main campaign, but also the many bonus missions to test your skill. The Game Bakers are offering iOS gamers a chance to pick up their amazing title for free for a limited time and I'd definitely recommend taking them up on that offer - especially as it received a 5/5 from us when it came out and has even more to offer now. [Squids Wild Wes…

FAA's Free App of the Day – Monster Shooter: The Lost Levels

Today the FAA brings you a game I can personally recommend as it managed to suck a fair portion of my week away from me when it came out. "In this action-packed twin-stick shooter, you are tasked with shooting your way through 80 levels, 100 missions, and waves of monsters in order to save, well, a little kitten. It's hardly worth the effort, if truth be told. Thankfully, though, as the saviour of all things fluffy, you have a fully stocked armoury full of 12 upgradable weapons. So, at least you can have some fun along the way." Download it now and get the best free apps every day from the Free AppAlliance app.…

Fieldrunners 2 updated for Halloween

Fieldrunners 2 updated for Halloween

Subatomic Studios has updated the really rather brilliant Fieldrunners 2 just in time for Halloween, adding in a new Jack O'Lantern tower that spews out powerful gouts of fire. Called the BOOM-kin tower, the spooky new weapon in your arsenal isn't the only new addition to the game. There have been some quite extensive tweaks to the game too to increase loading time and optimise performance. As well as the behind the scenes stuff, the game now features iCloud saves, so you can play on one iOS device, and pick up where you left off on another, even crossing your saves between the iPad and IPhone versions. The updated version of the app should be in the App Store right about now, and if yo…

He-Man: The Most Powerful Game in the Universe™ Review

He-Man: The Most Powerful Game in the Universe™ Review

There's one thing Skeletor always had right about He-Man - he's a bit of a dunce. Not your typical muscle-headed stubbornness mind you, but rather a blind 'do right at all costs' sort of fellow who'll act before thinking. So it's entirely appropriate that Mattel's reboot of the series as a side-scrolling action brawler should feel just as dense, but not in the mindless 'fun' way. You, as Adam in his guise of He-Man, are tasked with stopping Skeletor from pulling off his latest scheme.…

Punch Quest Review

So many auto-runners vie for attention now it can seem like a vast generic blur of jumping, sliding and coin-grabbing albeit with a gimmick here or there to prop it up. Punch Quest by Rocketcat Games and Madgarden makes no apologies for jumping in on the bandwagon, but it does so with as much pomp and excitement as Jetpack Joyride, while also bringing something far more interesting to the table - near endless brawling. The name says it all - your character starts and ends their…

Heroes & Castles - Control Your Army From The Battlefield

Heroes & Castles - Control Your Army From The Battlefield

While we wait for more news about Foursaken Media's upcoming release of N.Y. Zombies 2, the team is proud to show off another of their projects - Heroes & Castles. Players are placed right down on the battlefield, selecting from one of three heroes (Warrior, Paladin or Engineer), and directing their forces while fending off foes. In a way it reminds me of the Dynasty Warriors formula, albeit with more of a real-time strategy edge. Players may find themselve deep in battle with a horde of enemies where "you'll look to your right as 20 Peons hold the line against skeleton warriors... on your left 2 giants smash their clubs into a goblin horde, knocking them 20 feet back in all direction…

Gamelion releases League of Heroes

Gamelion, the developer behind Monster Shooter and Doodle Fit has released a new free-to-play hack and slasher called League of Heroes. Set in a rich fantasy universe populated with gorgeous, hand drawn 2D sprites, the game looks to riff on the likes of Zelda, giving you an isometric world to attack with your trusty weapon. The game offers enormous boss battles, huge hordes of enemies for you to slice and dice your way through, and a huge number of quests to sate the adventurer's urge in all of us. League of Heroes is available right now from the App Store for nothing at all, and we've embedded a trailer below so you can get a taste of the brightly coloured fantasy violence you're going…

FAA's Free App of the Day – Random Heroes

Sadly we just missed out on a deal for Super Crate Box, but for those after another solid platformer, check out the Free App Alliance's latest pick! "Random Heroes is another excellent platformer from Ravenous Games. That's the studio responsible for equally excellent League of Evil 1 and 2. Basically, you have to take control of one of 15 different heroes, and attempt to save the world across more than 30 levels. You have guns and other weapons to help you out, but don't expect a walk in the park - this is one tricky game." Trailer: You can check out our review of Random Heroes here (note the game has been updated since this release - so take the plunge!) Download…
