Is Apex Legends mobile still happening?
Apex Legends players have been wondering if they will ever get blessed with a mobile version of the battle royale, likely jealous of all the Warzone and PUBG hype I'm sure. However, we come bearing bad, bad news.
Apex Legends Mobile was revealed in 2022 and gamers got to enjoy it for a whole three months before EA and Respawn Entertainment announced it was shutting down. It's a bummer because the vibrant legends and fast-paced gameplay really seemed fitting for a competitive mobile game. So is it coming back?
What happened to Apex Legends Mobile?
The short answer is no, Apex Legends Mobile is not returning. The game was released as a limited launch in February 2023 and had a global release the following month. By May 1, 2023, however, the game was shut down permanently. At this point, it left Android and IOS devices forever.
Before its death, EA and Respawn both seemed to speak highly of Apex Legends Mobile, claiming it was met with positivity from the gaming community. However, a since-deleted press release revealed that the game didn't meet Respawn's standards for "quality, quantity, and cadence." After months of working with the game's development partner, EA announced there was a "mutual decision" to shut it down.
“Although disappointing, we are proud of the game we launched, are grateful for the support of the Apex Legends community, and are confident that this is the right decision for players," the press release stated at the time.
Will Fade and Rhapsody join Apex Legends?
One reason that Apex Legends players liked and hated the mobile version was its exclusive content. This obviously made it fun to play but also made PC players a bit salty. Apex Legends Mobile got extra stuff like two exclusive legends: Fade and Rhapsody. These two legends have yet to make it to the PC version of Apex Legends. There hasn't been any substantial mention of them since the game shut down so we're going to say it's a thing of the past for now. And maybe forever. It's like Respawn doesn't even want us to remember the mobile version existed.
But gamers are still wondering where it's gone and hoping it will come back.
