Dunk City Dynasty wins big award ahead of Championship Finals this weekend

Usually, when I hear about basketball news, it is that the Minnesota Timberwolves lost again. Recently, however, there's been nought but great news in the basketball arena. The Timberwolves have realised “oh, we are good actually” and started winning, and also, Dunk City Dynasty has been smashing it out of the court. Or driving it to the hoop? There isn't a good basketball saying. 

To start with, Dunk City Dynasty has been recognised as the Best Multiplayer Game in this year’s Best of Google Play Awards. Specifically, it won it in North America, Europe, Latin America, and partially the Middle East and Africa. Over in Japan it went to Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra. Bloody nepotism. 

To celebrate this illustrious win, NetEase Games is celebrating by throwing $100,000.00 at a few of its players. What a very expensive victory.

The Dunk City Dynasty Global Championship Finals take place this weekend in Shanghai, China. You can watch the action on Twitch, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, or TwiX. Although who doesn’t just use Twitch or YouTube for that? As well as the matches, there will be appearances from the likes of streetball hooper Christon Staples, Edu Gil, and FIBA 3×3 pro Felipe Motta. 

After the Opening Ceremony on Friday, the action immediately kicks off with Play-in Stage Double Elimination Rounds. Taking no prisoners early here. Then Saturday will feature a Show Match between six female basketball pros in a B03, followed by the Upper and Lower Bracket Rounds. 

Finally, Sunday will have the Upper Bracket and Lower Bracket Finals, before the big event. There will be another show Match between the Team managers, and a Cheerleader performance. Then Jim Feng, VP of NBA China and APAC, will announce the start of the Championship Grand Finals. Sounds like a very fun weekend.
