Turn-based combat and character building galore in Kaiju No. 8 The Game launch

Kaiju No. 8 The Game was launched over the long weekend, transforming Naoya Matsumoto's popular anime into a turn-based combat, role-playing game full of massive kaijus. 

Kaiju No. 8 The Game has character building and boss battles inspired by the original story, with full voice acting for fuller immersion. There are three story modes at launch, including a Main Story inspired by the anime and manga, "Memories" to focus more on classic moments, and "Character Stories" to explore relationships between team members a lot closer. 

Gameplay for Kaiju No. 8 The Game

You will take control of the Japan Anti-Kaiju Defense Force as they face deadly monsters. Defeat them in strategic, turn-based combat, using each character's unique skills. This includes iconic officers like Kafka Hibino, Mina Ashiro, Reno Ichikawa, Kikoru Shinomiya, Soshiro Hoshina, Isao Shinomiya, and plenty more. Pick four at a time, coordinating their powers and strengths. 

While combat is the focus, there is plenty of character development as well, allowing players to go through growth systems to enhance their favorite characters' attributes, skills, and equipment. There's something called "Unipart R&D" that allows you to craft items that have randomly generated stats. Collect materials on your quests to develop and strengthen your squad. 

Speaking of characters, Reno Ichikawa is joining the roster. He just debuted in Episode 19 of Kaiju No. 8 over the weekend. He will appear in his "Identified Kaiju Weapon (Number Weapon) 6" outfit. But hold your horses, because you'll need to use the game's gacha mechanics to get more stuff for this character. Yes, there are in-game purchases.
