Last week, we covered the announcement that Supercell was shuttering Squad Busters after about a year of not performing well. Or “no meeting player expectation," as is always the case, it seems.

Well, it appears that this sent some ripples of concern throughout the gaming populace, and brought the question of mo.cos’ future to the fore.

It had its global release earlier this year, and you would be forgiven if you didn’t notice. Compared to Supercell’s other games, mo.co didn’t get as much of a publicity boost. As such, it hasn’t received a huge player base, or, as we can assume, the revenue.

For a studio that got Thor himself involved in the game that failed, you can see why people would worry that mo.co would be next.

Well, luckily for us, Supercell’s mo.co specialist, João Freitas, was on hand to dispel the rumours in a lengthy TwiX post. You can read the full post yourself, but we are going to cut to the main points. Starting with: no, mo.co is not in threat. This is despite João admitting that the player base retention is not at the level they want it to be.

Having said that, he does say positive things about the cosmetic-only monetisation approach, which is definitely a win for gamers. Interestingly, however, Supercell apparently did not treat the global launch as a big event, which explains the lack of publicity. Instead, they started small and are seeking to grow it with player feedback, which leads us to the big announcement.

mo.co will be receiving a revamp early in 2026, subject to change, with neo mo.co taking its place. So, far from it being at risk, it seems that Supercell is taking its development seriously, but not aggressively, which I am quite a fan of.

I appreciate that they aren’t taking the “eggs in one basket, make or break” attitude. Instead, let it grow naturally with fan input. So, if you are thinking of downloading mo.co from the App Store and Google Play, you can do so with no worries!
