Rarepixels have announced it will be showing the chaos the festive season wrecks on air traffic controller every year with its simulation game Planes Control. Starting December 20th until mid-January, you will have to deal with adverse weather, and a certain visitor bringing disruption in their trail.

This seasonal update will largely stick to the game's tried and tested formula. You will be in charge of an inexplicably, incredibly busy but small airport and are tasked with managing all the various aircraft landing in your airspace. The likes of passenger planes, choppers and even heavily armed attack choppers will be eagerly circling, waiting for you to clear their approach and guide them in. Soon the skies get incredibly crowded with dozens of crafts impatiently awaiting your frantic instruction.

Unfortunately, winter brings its own challenges with windy conditions and heavy snow causing havoc to your aviation activities. Some of the runaways will suddenly become unusable due to the weather, turning to a grey colour to indicate this new status. You will then have to change any landing routes and redirect them to the active strips, in the meantime diverting any other planes that intercept the new path. At least the area will have some lovely-looking snow.

If this wasn’t enough, that seasonal nemesis to Air Traffic Control will once again be rearing its holy jolly head, with Santa occasionally entering your airspace. Presented by a red dotted line, Santa pays no head to any traffic, so it will be down to you to redirect all other aircraft away from the path to assist Santa in delivering his presents, lest you inadvertently ruin Christmas. It is about time someone shines a light on the true price of Christmas
