To nobody's surprise, Pokémon TCG Pocket has continued to rack up the awards in the winter season. This time, the massive game has been called the "iPhone Game of the Year."

Pokémon TCG Pocket was selected as Game of the Year during the 2025 App Store Awards along with 16 other games taking other categories. These games were nominated for their "technical ingenuity and lasting cultural impact."

Apple CEO Tim Cook stated: "Every year, we’re inspired by the ways developers turn their best ideas into innovative experiences that enrich people’s lives.

"This year’s winners represent the creativity and excellence that define the App Store, and they demonstrate the meaningful impact that world-class apps and games have on people everywhere.”

This comes after Pokémon TCG Pocket won Best Game of the Year at Google Play's awards.

Pokémon TCG Pocket has massive year

It's no surprise that Pokémon TCG Pocket won so many app awards in 2025. A simplified version of the TCG with a huge collecting element, Pocket has been a huge hit with Pokémon fans. Right now, Pocket has over 150 million downloads as of late 2025.

However, Pokémon TCG Pocket is more than just popular. On November 1st, it was revealed that the app earned $1.3 billion in one year alone. It beat Pokémon GO, making it the highest-earning Pokémon game in history.

This is thanks to the addictive collecting aspect of Pokémon TCG Pocket, which could be compared to a gacha game quite easily at this point. While players can't buy extra booster packs, they can purchase various items that allow them to open more packs each day or earn more special cards from different events and challenges.
