Pokémon TCG Pocket wins Best Game of 2025

Pokémon TCG Pocket has been crowned "Best Game of 2025" at the Google Play Best Awards. 

The annual Google Play Best Awards aims to highlight some of the most popular and successful apps of each year. It's sort of a no-brainer that Pocket swept up the Best Game award after its massively dominant and lucrative year. The game made $1.3 billion in its first year. 

Said Sam Bright: “This year, Pokémon TCG Pocket went above and beyond to deliver an authentic version of the iconic trading card game. From tearing open booster packs to fawning over beautifully designed cards, there’s a tactile element to everything.

"These thoughtful touches bring the card game into a new era, earning it the coveted award of Best Game of 2025.”

I personally wouldn't call these "thoughtful touches" and maybe more like "ways to make more money off of addicts." But I wasn't on the panel. 

Google Play Best Awards also saw Disney Speedstorm win Best Multi-Device Game, Dunk City Dynasty win Best Multiplayer, Wuthering Waves winning Best Ongoing, Chants of Senaar win Best Indie, and Disco Elysium win Best Story.
