Resident Evil Survival Unit blows past one million pre-registrations within a month
For the longest time, if you wanted to enjoy Capcom's hit zombie survival franchise, Resident Evil, you had to make do with ports. You also needed to own an Apple phone. Well, those dark days are coming to an end with the announcement of Resident Evil Survival Unit last month, and unsurprisingly, the pre-registration process is going pretty well.
The campaign has been open for about a month, so getting one million this fast is no mean feat. However, are we surprised? Resident Evil is a huge series. I think Capcom undersold the milestones for this. Having said that, it just means more goodies for us.
Thanks to this rapid outpouring of sign-ups, we will enter this alternate land with our pockets fit to burst. Our inventories will consist of 10 Special Flare Guns, 1,000 Gems, 20 5-minute speedups, a Rewards Package, 10 Advanced Flare Guns, and a 7-Day Base Skin. Flares for days, it appears.

For me, the biggest thing that pops out is the Speedups, confirming that Survival Unit will feature those base style upgrades. I only hope it doesn’t follow the real-time strategy formula too closely. Having your base constantly destroyed by another player is incredibly demoralising.
Let’s focus instead on the positives: Leon S Kennedy. Our favourite zombie killer is already confirmed to be in the game, along with the likes of Claire Redfield and Jill Valentine. Survival Unit is set in an alternative universe, so there might be some differences. But Leon is the best in any timeline, so we should be fine.
This wasn’t just an excuse to gush about Mr Kennedy, mind you. If you pop over to the official website, we should soon start seeing profiles popping up for the game’s characters. It will be interesting to see how different our favourite heroes will be. Don’t forget to also pre-register Resident Evil Survival Unit on the App Store and Google Play.
