Resident Evil Survival Unit brings the smash hit series to mobile in strategy form

After a few remakes, Capcom is giving us some fresh Resident Evil with Requiem coming in 2026, and Survival Unit announced for mobile. It will launch later this year in Europe, North America, Korea, Japan, and other regions in Asia. 

Resident Evil Survival Unit is a mobile strategy game co-developed by Aniplex and Joycity under the watchful eyes of Capcom. It will be set in a parallel universe to the main timeline with its own original storyline, but hopefully that doesn’t mean any less Leon Kennedy. They are going to great lengths to eliminate Resident Evil 6 from our brains.

The story kicks off as you awake in a mysterious hospital, where you have been experimented on by the Umbrella Corporation. You will fight your way out, encountering iconic Resident Evil characters, before finding yourself in that most inevitable location: a mansion.

You will decorate your new home and fill it with your favourite characters from the series, where you will even be able to interact with them. Alongside fortifying the mansion, you will also be visited by the memorable merchant from Resident Evil 4, allowing you to stock up for your next mission.

As you advance through the story, you will find yourself facing off against nightmare monsters in real-time defence battles. Victory will be determined by your use of character abilities and mastery of environmental mechanics. Because no matter what alternate reality you are in, there is always a bevvy of random, explosive barrels lying around.

The mobile iteration of the smash-hit franchise is brought to life by a host of talented artists, including guest designer Yoshitaka Amano. Most likely known in gaming circles for his striking artwork of Final Fantasy, here he has brought to life the original Mortem creature, a psychological horror for you to riddle with bullets.
