We covered the announcement about a week ago, but now the inaugural Map Event has launched in SD Gundam G Generation. Along with this new way to play, we also have a fresh batch of UR units to summon, centred around Gundam Wing. One is a robot with a big scythe, pretty cool.

Of course, the highlight here is the Map Event. Completing this will unlock Quatre Raberta Winner, an SSR support unit with the Increased Range skill. You can also grab the Doctor J and Peacemillion supporter who buffs Tough as Nails Gundam. Provided you master the new mechanics first.

Using PP, you navigate down a branching map, where each step brings you a different event. You can encounter enemies to battle, boost your forces, or pick up handy rewards. Landing on a Fixed Weapon will even clear an adjacent battle space to speed you along. There will be tough Area Battles at the end of each section, testing your mettle before you move on.

That may all sound straightforward, but Eternal throws a spanner in the works in the shape of Sortie Restrictions. Each battle space will only allow certain units, be it from a specific series, or those with a matching tag. In short, you can’t expect to completely steamroll everything with your two favourite teams. Luckily, you also get one free squad.

Heading over to the Featured Unit Assembly, you can try your luck at recruiting Duo Maxwell and his Gundam Deathscythe Hell (EW) (EX). Folks with a love for Specialized Unit-tagged Gundam can try and pull the UR Lucrezia Noin & Supersonic Transporter Support. Finally, my nightmare.

The second UR is the Build Strike Gundam (Full Package) (EX) piloted by Reiji from the Gundam Build Fighters series. Rather annoyingly, they are also tagged as part of the SEED series, meaning I need to recruit them. I was saving for the Destiny launch!

SD Gundam G Generation is available to download from the App Store and Google Play.
