Mushroom Wars 2 features re-worked multiplayer, deeper gameplay, and UFOs

The original Mushroom Wars went down rather well with fans and critics alike when it was released, focusing as it did on realtime strategy and adorable visuals. Mushroom Wars 2 has just been announced, and from early word on the game, it looks like it'll be more of the same army-battling shenanigans and warring toadstools. The game's publisher Zillion Whales just dropped a big package of details about it onto us, and the company is promising an all new single player mode of over 20 stages, with multiple difficulty levels, set across the Mushroom Universe, complete with new enemies, and new battle tactics to implement. If you win an encounter it'll give you a boost to your morale, which…

A responsive virtual stick guides your hero, with a fire button letting you cast spells at the nearest available target. This si…

Final Fantasy Artniks Dive is an upcomming free-to-play game from Square Enix and GREE

Final Fantasy Artniks Dive is an upcomming free-to-play game from Square Enix and GREE

Final Fantasy and free-to-play has had a rocky history together. Hell, Final Fantasy and mobiles haven't always been the best of friends either. For every super classy remake of Final Fantasy IV, there's a visual misstep in Final Fantasy VI.For every mega impressive Final Fantasy Agito, there's a diabolical Final Fantasy: All The Bravest. So when we saw that Square Enix had partnered with GREE to create its next mobile Final Fantasy, and that it would be free-to-play, you can imagine that we were cautious about getting too excited. There's very little information out in the wild about the game right now. We know it's coming to iOS and Android, and that you probably won't need a beast of a…

Huge Disco Zoo update lets you catch animals in space

Disco Zoo’s latest update has brought a host of new features to NimbleBit’s casual puzzler. The biggest change comes in the form of two new environments, city and space, which add twelve new animal types for you to hunt down for your exhibits. The city setting works much like previous ones, letting you trade coins to engage in the game’s Battleship-like expeditions to capture animals. Space, however, can only be explored by spending a new in-game currency: the imaginatively titled Space Coins. These can only be earned by capturing specific animals to order from other habitats, or through in-app purchases. The update also adds ways to jazz up your enclosures using eithe…

World of Tanks Blitz Review

At its most reductive, World of Tank Blitz is a modern interpretation of the Atari classic Combat. But this mobile instalment the of tank-based arena warfare behemoth bring flair - and considerate monetisation - to the formula. A quick tutorial teaches you nuances of manoeuvring your metal death-machine using the virtual stick, buttons, and various drop down menus. It is a familiar system, but one made unique thanks to your tanks methodical pace and cumbersome turning circle. Th…

Beautiful botanical point-and-click adventure Botanicula is on sale for the first time

The gorgeously floral adventure game Botanicula has been in bloom on the iPad for three months now. In fact, it's fourished so well that developer Amanita Design has given its price a prune for the summer. The charming point-and-click game has you guiding a troop of tiny creatures along the branches of a tree. Their home is under attack, forcing them to flee in order to rescue their arboreal homestead's last remaining seed. Each creature has its own unique powers. From the stick-like being that can extend to create bridges over dangers, to the rotund orb that illuminates the dark, every beastie must be nurtured and mastered to guide the team to victory. Botanical is currently &poun…

Rush Horizon looks like Out Run and Temple Run in one sun-soaked racing package

Rush Horizon looks like Out Run and Temple Run in one sun-soaked racing package

I'm a sucker for Out Run, and I love me a bit of Temple Run. Sometimes I cry myself to sleep at night knowing that I can't play both games at the same time. Rush Horizon looks like it may save me from having more tear-soaked sleepytimes. The game is in development by Game Juice, a South Korean team of three that are looking to blend classic arcade racing with modern endless running. Featuring touchscreen and tilt controls, 10 sports cars, other vehicles and obstacles to dodge, lots of upgrades to unlock, and a continuous transcontinental race across coastal areas, cities, deserts, valleys, and more, it sounds like there's plenty in here to be getting on with. I'm quite excited to see h…

Hands-on with Zombie Catchers, where aliens feed zombies to humans

Hands-on with Zombie Catchers, where aliens feed zombies to humans

As the succinct title of this article points out, Zombie Catchers is about controlling an alien who feeds the undead to the still living. That's a pretty gross thought on several levels. Part action game, tiny bit management title, you must run about various stages catching zombies with a multitude of weapons, before hauling them home to be turned into nourishment for the human population at one of your diabolical food kiosks. It controls well with its virtual buttons, it's got a strangely adorable visual style, and the soundtrack is spot on. Check it out:…

Mobile version of War Thunder could let you battle PlayStation 4 and PC players

Mobile version of War Thunder could let you battle PlayStation 4 and PC players

File this firmly in the 'rumour and speculation' file for now. We recently received a press release from Gaijin Entertainment, celebrating the success that console and PC combat sim War Thunder had amongst press at E3. You can read the press release here if you like. The bit that specifically caught my eye was the following; "War Thunder was the only game at E3 to have cross platform play working across five different platforms including PC, Mac OS, Linux, PlayStation 4 and a new unannounced platform, shown only behind closed doors". What is that unannounced platform? Let's do a little speculating. From a business standpoint, cross-platform play between PC, Mac, Linux, and PlayStation 4…

Star Wars: Commander is basically Clash of Clans with Han Solo

Have you ever wanted to issue orders to a batallion of Stormtroopers in an attempt to crush the Rebel Alliance and dominate the galaxy in the name of The Sith? Well, you're a monster. However, if you really have to, Star Wars: Commander is a safe space to exercise your dark desires. Currently soft-launched in Australia, this strategy management title asks you to choose a side - either the Rebellion or the Empire - and build a fortress capable of withstanding any attack from aggressors. You can take the fight to the enemy too, building and upgrading an army, before sending it out to destroy other bases. It's like Clash of Clans, only with Tie Fighters. Instead of Barbari…

Hands-on with Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, the new omg wtf ikr watevs I'm so over it you guys

So it's come to this. I've played enough free-to-play games to comfortably drain the wallets of 100 committed thumb-jostlers. I've flown futuristic hovercrafts. I've commanded armies to victory across the war-torn fields of feudal China. I've explored uncharted regions of faraway galaxies, and unlocked alternative dimensions with a flick of my wrist. Today, I helped Kim Kardashian choose a dress. She was so pleased that money literally popped out of her body and bounced along the boutique floor, upon which I scrambled to gather her casually discarded wealth like a grateful orphan chasing an abandoned crust of bread. The video below documents this event, which was just one of many humili…

You're still a sheep. You still have command of your tank. You keep playing until you fail to destroy a structure. Video Games.…

Epic RPG The Banner Saga coming to iOS this summer

The Banner Saga has made quite the name for itself on PC since it was released earlier this year. Now, developer Stoic Studios has confirmed that the acclaimed RPG is now destined for the App Store. Thrown into in a medieval viking world, you must journey through stunning 2D nordic environments on a mission to save civilization. With over 25 playable characters, there are plenty of ways for this grave story to play out. With every choice you make impacting the story and fate of your characters, each decision must be carefully weighed. Stoic Studio team is made up of ex-Mass Effect developers, so The Banner Saga’s pedigree is not in question. That said, we look forward to seei…
