Dominion HD iPad Review

One of the iPad's greatest successes has been opening up the potential for table-top games to go digital, making it easy for multiple players to play on a tabletop or pass around. Dominion HD is Chillingo's latest iPad game and a direct adaption of the classic strategic board game Risk. All of the game's controls are menu driven and features a comprehensive tutorial not only to teach you the controls but also run you through your first match as you learn the game's rules. Dominion is…

muBlip Gets and Update

muBlip Gets and Update

para9 has announced the availability of muBlip 1.1.0 on the App Store - a major update to the critically-acclaimed iPhone game. The most significant feature of muBlip 1.1.0 is native support for the iPad. This release also includes three new levels featuring two by beloved band Duchess Says as well as a number of performance improvements. I'm not sure if I've somehow been co-opted in to an educational game while playing muBlip by para9. On the face of it the game is an Ouendan-style rhythm game with fresh electronic chiptune beats, but to mix things up the game uses a Simon-says watch and repeat set up to add an amazing new kind of challenge to the genre. Split/Second Review

Split/Second Review

Everyone likes to have a go at Director Michael Bay for his mindless, explosion filled action films, but he also knows that deep down everyone has a teenager that's delighted by simple wanton destruction. Split/Second by Disney Interactive and Black Rock Studio follows this train of thought and throws players in to a deadly high-speed race where you get to use an entire city as a weapon against your opponents. The tilt-based controls are fairly standard for a racer, though early cars…

Tesla Wars Review

In Tesla Wars by Pavel Tarabrin your aim is to defend your giant Tesla-coil as you zap, explode or slice and dice the incoming stick-figure army. Simple 2D graphics are combined with beautiful special effects and fast-paced gameplay to make this castle-defender an exciting and compelling game to master. Your main weapon for the game is the titular Tesla-coil that can unload a painful dose of electricity, Red Alert style, at your enemies by directly touching them. Enemies can be left h…

Kometen Review

Review Erik Svedang By Andrew Nesvadba, 4 years, 4 months ago
Kometen Review

Kometen is the latest offering from well known Indie developer Erik Svedäng of Blueberry Garden fame. Pairing up with artist Niklas Åkerblad, it's an 'experience' based game that offers no true objective outside exploring the universe you're given by attempting to master gracefully propelling yourself from planet to planet. There's not a lot to controlling your space-pacman as all he requires is a simple touch to initiate an orbit around a planetoid, while swiping the scree…

X2 Football 10/11 Review

Where other Soccer games on the iPhone tend towards an arcade experience to their gameplay, X2 Soccer 2010 builds on the success of the first title in its series and solidifies X2 Games as having one the best simulated experiences for Soccer on the App Store. One of the biggest advantages of X2 Soccer is its realistic controls that naturally move your players in a smoothly in a 360 circle and its slightly slower pace to help control your gameplay. Zombie Farm Review

Zombie Farm Review

While it may be a little late to the party, Zombie Farm by Playforge combines two hugely popular concepts in gaming in to one package that's amusing, addictive and surprisingly cute in its execution. Most of your farming duties can be performed through a menu driven system, however a handy "smart" pointer takes most of the need to directly navigate them. Tapping on fresh turf or recently harvested soil will automatically plow the land, while tapping on plowed land brings up the market…

PUZZLE DEVIL TOUCH! Review

Review WOOZZANG By Andrew Nesvadba, 4 years, 4 months ago
PUZZLE DEVIL TOUCH! Review

Puzzle Devil Touch by WOOZZANG is a deceptively simple puzzler that will have you scratching your head as you try to master shifting numbered blocks across the game's puzzle grid to fall in to each open square. Each level consists of one or more numbered blocks that represent the number of moves left before it turns in to an immovable block. Slippery surfaces and direction-shifting arrows add an incredible amount of complexity to the game's puzzles, but if you're finding any puzzle to…

Review Albert Omoss By Andrew Nesvadba, 4 years, 4 months ago
Sorter Review

A game's addictiveness is often hard to truly quantify as what might be addictive at one moment can quickly become boring in the next moment. Sorter by Albert Omoss almost skips this conundrum by making a game based around sorting colored bombs that can put players in to an almost zen-like state as they furiously swipe the screen to the thumping soundtrack. Gameplay is extremely simple: Drag and drop colored bombs to the correct bay before they explode. The iPhone's incredible selecti…

Hector: Fat Arse of the Law Coming to iPhone!

Indie, an I mean Indie, developer Straandlooper Animation is set to release a new point and click adventure game (or should I say point and touch) to the iPhone and iPod Touch. Hector: Fat Arse of the Law - Badge of Carnage, due for release on June 2nd is set to send the genre back to its roots with an interactive mystery cleverly strung together with alcohol, cigarettes, and impeccable comedic timing. Backstory: A hostage crisis is in full force in the centre of Clappers Wreake. Hector has a choice to make: carry out the terrorist's curiously altruistic demands, or watch as his fellow officers are picked off one by one. Hector's still on the fence. Featuring great animated characters and…
