Yes, it's Wednesday. It's been Wednesday for quite a while now, depending on where you are. It might not be Wednesday in some places. How does time even work? I have no idea. Go ask a grown up, we're here to talk about games.

And on Wednesday (which is the day that today is), we talk about games that are on sale. Five of them. The best five that are currently going for cheap on the App Store. So that's exactly what we're going to do right now.

As usual you can click on the emboldened name of the games below to download them from the App Store. And if you've got your own suggestions, feel free to toss them haphazardly into the comments section at the bottom of the article.

There are a lot of match-stuff puzzlers on the App Store. A good deal of them are complete garbage. This one isn't though. It's full of pirates and silliness, and its full name is far too long to type. The board moves, you're trying to create the perfect sea shanty, and the whole thing is really rather wonderful.

It might have gotten a sequel, which is better, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't give the original a try. This is a slick midcore strategy sim that's all about leading your racing team to victory. There's loads to do, from micro-managing races to making sure you've got the best mechanics on board. This is the sort of game you're going to lose weeks to, and right now it's free.

Arkanoid vs Space Invaders - £1.99 / $1.99

A big mash up of two arcade classics. You're stopping space invaders, but you're doing it with a paddle at the bottom of the screen. There are some really good ideas here, and while there are a few problems, it's still well worth checking out. Especially if you've got a soft spot for the golden age of the arcade. And who doesn't have that?

Full Throttle Remastered - £2.99 / $2.99

A classic of the point and click genre. It's all about motorbikes, jokes, and solving puzzles. There's more action here than you might imagine, and while it's not perfect on touchscreen, for such a low price it's something of a steal. If you've not played this one before then you're almost certainly going to fall in love with it.

Probably one of the hardest games you're going to play. It's not unfair though. Sure, there's cruelty oozing from all of its shiny digital pores, but you never feel cheated by it. It's a platformer that uses a series of different mechanics. It's perfect for touchscreen, it looks brilliant, and while you're going to hate it, you're going to love it as well.
