Basketrio is a fast-paced basketball game from indie developer Cube Magic and it’s out now on iOS and Android devices in select regions.
In it, you form a team of colourful characters to play heated sessions of basketball that can get pretty hectic. It’s one of those “easy to play but hard to master” titles, where you partake in 3-on-3 half court basketball matches played at a fast pace. Each match lasts three minutes and requires you to be skilled in your approach against the other team. There’s also a one-on-one mode if you’d prefer the intimate approach.
Customisation is also important to Basketrio’s lifeblood and gives you an array of different costumes and accessories to dress your avatar up in. It ranges from regular streetwear to steampunk and sci-fi themed clothing. Cube Magic has also made it known that more outfits will be added in further updates over time as well.
Furthermore, there are more characters who can be signed to your team, each with their own characteristics, talents and abilities that you should consider when signing them up to play for you. Once they’re on the team though, you’re able to train them to suit a playstyle which you think fits them best. See the trailer above to get more details on this aspect of the game.
Basketrio also has a feature called Drive-Assist, which lets you create your own combos to use in-game. These are a selection of tricks to equip your characters with to play out special animations as you dunk, lay-up or shoot a three-pointer.
It looks like Basketrio might fill the right hole for the mobile sports gamers out there. You can play now by downloading it from the iOS App Store or Google Play for Android. It’s a free to play title with in-app purchases.
