BAFTA award-winning developer New Star Games has announced that its 90’s styled soccer game, Retro Goal, will now be free to play for mobile. This change will remove the usage cap that was in place and allow players to enjoy as much football as they can.

Retro Goal is a mix of arcade soccer with some simple team management thrown into the mix to keep things fresh. It takes inspiration from the 16-bit era of gaming, but couples it with some modern touchscreen controls in a combination that has been proven by New Star’s past games. You can choose a team from many leagues across the world, recruit the best players you can afford, and then take to the pitch and swipe your way to victory.

Previously, players could only play the game up to a certain point and then be prompted to pay for the game to continue. Now, however, you are able to play as much of the Career Mode as you like with zero advertisements.

There is the option to pay for an unlimited mode, which gives you 500 Bux, a Global Championship Tournament mode as well as future features such as the planned in-game editor. You will also get access to additional difficulty options, weather effects, season length options and the ability to save players to the Hall of Fame. All nice features to have, but without paying you can still enjoy the gameplay.

New Star Games is an independent studio formed and based in Buckingham, UK by Simon Read, and has put out some incredibly fun games, starting with New Star Soccer, a debut smash hit, even netting a BAFTA in 2013. They then put out the American Football simulator Retro Bowl, which is one of the most fun games you can get on mobile.

If you would like to take advantage of this new free status, download Retro Goal now from the App Store and Google Play.
